Objectives

The Youth Exchange " "Crossing Borders for healthy lifestyle" " will gather participants from 12th to 19th of January for 8 days program in a beautiful Marrakesh in Morocco. The participants from Italy, Spain, Russia , French and Morocco will create a space for 47 youngsters to extend their current knowledge and to acquire new ones with regards to health, disease, sports, social inclusion and generally about healthy lifestyle.Weight problems and obesity have become a priority in Europe and one of the most serious public health problems of the 21st century. This trend in children is alarming, as it has grown steadily and is a warning to future generations. Obesity in children is strongly associated with several risk factors such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, orthopaedic problems, mental disorders related to poor school performance and lack of confidence. This situation leads to many people not wanting to participate actively in the society around them.YE is focused on youth between 18 and 30 years old who are motivated to live healthy. It involves also youth with fewer opportunities that are coming from rural areas or from economic poorer background. Through youth exchange will participants gain informal education, knowledge about different cultures and knowledge about different (healthier) active way of life. This youth exchange will include five organizations from different parts of Europe. The goals of the YE are to point out the problems of unhealthy way of life that people are living nowadays. We want to involve young people and encourage them to take responsibility and try to live healthier. The identification of this problem in most European countries, where young people don’t do sports and are very careless with food, has determined to initiate this project that aims to promote among young people the importance of carrying out a healthy lifestyle and, at the same time, look for means that are attractive to them like videos and apps to promote this message. For this reason, we developed the following specific objectives: To explore the concept of healthy lifestyle; To discuss current issues related to the nutrition and sports; To provide participants with opportunities to improve their physical and health competences; To empower youngsters to multiply competencies gained during the Youth Exchange; To promote non-formal education and Erasmus+ Programme as a support tool for health education and, to raise participants' awareness and understanding of other cultures and countries, offering them the opportunity to build networks of international contacts, to actively participate in society and develop a sense of European citizenship and identity. The youth exchange meets the needs of participants as it will improve participants’ daily habits to come closer to everyday issues of more healthy living in a healthy inclusive society. This is also why the theme of the project reflects the interests and needs not only of participants but also communities they live in and the organizations they work for. During the implementation of the project, participants will be given chance to live in Marrakesh and be active and healthy, by providing healthy meals, keeping them active through non-formal education methodology and through involving them in different activities like: Yoga, Pilates, Zumba fitness, Sport, hiking, traditional games, dances etc. Specific attention will be given to the following components: (a) using non-formal education methodology to keep participants active and interactive (b) Supporting social Inclusion in order to increase motivation to participate in an effective and constructive way in physical activity, social life, and even in diverse societies. (c) Promoting healthy and active lifestyle during the implementation of the project in order to build healthy lifestyle attitudes (d) Keeping in mind gender balance in all stages of the project. There is increasing recognition that to reduce gender inequality, programs must start with youth, because youth activism is a cornerstone of any country’s democratic development. Young people, if provided with appropriate skills and mechanisms, have a unique potential to effect positive changes for their communities and their lives. That’s why we will gather 47 young female and male participants aged from 18 to 30 strictly keeping in mind gender balance. Every group will have a group leader an there is no age limit for leader. Partner organizations have already discussed how essential is gender throughout the project cycle. For the same reason, we will examine gender balance and equity in all stages of youth exchange: partners have already been represented gender balanced in the planning and project design process. Furthermore we are committed to the principle of gender equality and consider the different impact the project may have on male and female participants of the project.
