Objectives

This project is to contribute to a new understanding of the concept of cultural diversity and youth empowerement by promoting digital storytelling - a method of creating personal, digital narratives that gives the voice to the otherwise unheard young people and let them present their own side of the story in order to deconstruct stereotypes. Within the framework of this project we plan to train 23 multipliers and support them in implementing projects based on digital storytelling in their local communities in beyond, thus contributing to building of more coehsive, peacefully diverse Europe. The specific objectives of this project are as follows: Explore the potential of youth work in approaching issues linked to intercultural societies, and in preventing discrimination, xenophobia, (self-)exclusion and radicalization. - Explore the potential of digital storytelling as a tool for youth empowerement and as a platform for social change, and in favoring self-expression and communication, removing cultural barriers, fostering creativity, and developing the youth’ awareness of global issues such as growing radicalization and aggression based on differences. - Encourage people to look beyond their immediate surroundings while simultaneously allowing them to express their interests and findings in a deeply personal way - Develop a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives and practices; to increase participation and the freedom and ability to make choices; to foster equality; and to enhance creative processes. - Develop the participant’s competences and transferable skills, with a focus on digital skills. - Provide participants with a tool to empower people and to help them find a voice. - Provide participants with an opportunity to work in group settings to reflect on specific experiences, whether they be major moments of accomplishment, life-changing experiences, or learning moments addressing injustices or socially constructed stigma. - Build a network of like-minded individuals and organizations working with young people all around Europe, committed to working on the issues approached during the training course and willing to collaborate on future common projects.
