Objectives

“Sport is a universal language. At best, it can bring people together, regardless of background, religious belief or economic status…when young people play sports or have access to physical education, they can feel a real exhilaration as they learn the ideals of teamwork and tolerance”. Kofi Annan Sport plays an important societal role and contributes decisively to the well-being of society. This role is recognized by the 27 member states of the European Union and highlighted in article 149 of the Treaty of Lisbon "The European Union contributes to the promotion of European issues of sport, while taking into account its specificities, of its structures based on voluntary work as well as of its social and educational function”. Thus, for young people, sport can on the one hand improve physical fitness and health but it can also and above all be an important tool for personal and professional development. Sport, by its very essence – that of a codified practice, with rules to be respected and controlled by a referee – is supposed to set limits and convey values, such as those of surpassing oneself, respect and the rules of game, solidarity and team spirit. The universal scope of sport makes it a real springboard for the future of young people from all walks of life. This is especially true for young people with fewer opportunities who need additional support to build their identity, develop their skills and their ability to cope with life's challenges. Talking about sport is not just about commenting on results, it is also about (informal) education, citizenship (commitment to sports associations is important, 56,470 licenses issued in 2016 in Martinique), health , equality, economy, jobs, innovation… Finally, it is the place where the first forms of active citizenship are experienced: it is often within the club that the first experiences of responsibility and volunteering take place. However, youth workers working with this target group often have little or no experience in using sport as an educational tool and do not know how to maximize the potential of sport in their daily work. Moreover, due to the geographical and cultural remoteness of the Caribbean region, few European projects related to youth are submitted there. Erasmus Plus, and its opportunities, is in fact very little known there by associative structures and youth workers, even less by young people. We therefore thought that it was essential to promote these opportunities in terms of training, in the ORs of Europe. It is in this context that the F.I.T.NetS partnership building seminar took place, which enabled participating organizations from all over Europe and the Caribbean to create lasting partnerships facilitating: -The implementation of sustainable projects related to the added value of Sport -The exchange of good practices and experiences around Sport as an educational tool. Main objective : Develop networks of organizations and create new partnerships in order to set up projects within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme, particularly in the Sport section, promoting the use of Sport as an educational tool (well-being, inclusion, insertion). Specific objectives : -Analyze the contexts, issues and challenges faced by young people in precarious socio-economic situations. -Exchanging best practices and methodological tools related to Sport as an educational tool. -Improving the skills of youth workers as part of their mission to include young people with fewer opportunities through sport. -Develop the knowledge of youth workers on the Erasmus+ Sport programme. -Create concrete and lasting partnerships allowing the creation and development of at least 6 Erasmus+ intercultural projects promoting Sport as a socio-educational tool. -Strengthen the networking of sports structures operating in the ORs with their European counterparts.
