BACKGROUND Thanks to a partnership between an association and two schools, this project aims to develop support for the professional integration of young Italians, French and Spanish. OBJECTIVES Develop their knowledge / know-how / interpersonal skills Fostering the professional integration of young people 1. Introduce young people to new contexts and enable them to experiment with solutions to develop their knowledge outside the school environment - Help them to develop their language level, or at least convince them to "dare to communicate in a foreign language" - Break down the perfectionist barrier that prevents many young people from speaking in a foreign language - - Discover or deepen their knowledge of Europe in general, and partner countries in particular (cultures, systems) 2. Introduce young people to and experiment with solutions to develop their know-how / skills (work experience) - Help them to understand the challenges of the professional world (rules, constraints, opportunities, career plans, lifelong learning) - To give them a "taste" of the professional world through direct contacts with people in the professional world (managers, employees) 3. To help young people discover and experiment with solutions to develop their interpersonal skills/behaviour and emotional intelligence - Test the adaptability of young people through the various activities proposed - Put young people in potentially uncomfortable situations and prove to them that they are able to (or help them) get out of their comfort zone. Beyond that, these situations will be ideal for developing "encouraging" attitudes in their relationships with others, due to the intercultural interest of this project. ACTIVITIES The working methods will vary according to the proposed activities. - Company visit / * Before: awareness of the visit. = design of a questionnaire to be asked to the visit manager to develop curiosity, the method of searching for information * During: dynamism, curiosity and respect = questions and answers with the visit manager, in compliance with the proposed rules * After: synthesis / analysis = creation of a final support summarizing each visit = personal reflection on personal and professional project (opportunity?) - Interviews with professionals / * Before: preparation of the questionnaire * During: question administration and active listening * After: creation of a "trades box" grouping the different trades discovered (paper and/or digital) - Game "Recruitment interview" / * Before: creation of recruitment tools by each young person (CV, cover letter, video CV) * During: recruitment interview / each young person applies for a few positions and the jury is composed of professionals (employees, managers) * Afterwards: synthesis by the juries (dynamism, oral fluency, behaviour, reactivity, adaptability) and personal reflection accompanied by each young person to remove the strong points and points for improvement. RESULTS / IMPACTS / BENEFITS - On the participants: They will have the experience to develop transversal skills (knowledge, know-how, interpersonal skills) and help them to understand and master the professional integration process. Young participants will better understand and accept the value of rules in a family, school and professional context. They will dare more. - On the participating organizations: This project will be a successful experience in European cooperation and collaboration. This project will give even more credibility to our respective structures. Success also gives confidence outside organizations and can become a recruitment lever thanks to the image conveyed (dynamism, openness, accessibility of services...). - On other target audiences: The objective is also to achieve more broadly: - young people and their families around each participating organization. The need for openness, to leave one's comfort zone, to leave one's bearings is real. This is THE condition for a more accurate assessment of one's living conditions. Thanks to the stays for young people and the welcome for families, this objective will be achieved and will make an impact on their minds to the point of spreading messages in the surroundings. - The "one-off" partners solicited will also discover more about what "young people today" are. For some professionals, this experience may encourage them to reflect on how to adapt their working methods to what young people expect.
To develop their knowledge / know-how / skills through targeted activities adapted to their age. 1. To help young people discover new contexts and experiment with solutions to develop their knowledge outside of school or in a different school setting: - Help them develop their language skills, or at least convince them to "dare to communicate in a foreign language" - Break down the barrier of perfectionism that prevents many young people from speaking in a foreign language - Discover school systems, organizations and cultures that are different from their own. - To discover school systems, organizations and subjects that are different from one country to another. To help young people find THEIR "ideal" system. - To discover or deepen their knowledge of Europe in general, and the partner countries in particular. 2. To make young people discover and experiment solutions to develop their know-how / their skills (professional experience) - To help them understand the challenges of the professional world (rules, constraints, opportunities, career planning, lifelong learning) - Give them a "taste" of the professional world through direct contact with people from the professional world (managers, employees) 3. To help young people discover and experiment with solutions to develop their behaviour and emotional intelligence - their relationship with others - To test the adaptation capacities of the young people by the various activities proposed - To put the young people in perhaps uncomfortable situations and prove to them that they are capable (or help them) to leave their comfort zone. The objectives of the project correspond to the problems identified in the Erasmus+ program. Through the theme of orientation / development of knowledge / know-how / skills: 1. To develop the language skills of young people, 2. Stimulate their interest in the culture of the territories, 3. Develop their intercultural skills, 4. Develop their attitudes (ability to manage a new situation, relationship with the other) 5. To encourage the creation of friendships and the durability of relationships (at the level of the organizations and at the level of each student). Each student will have the opportunity to create a network, which is essential for building a successful personal and professional project. 6. To promote the "European" spirit in young people, an indispensable condition for a territory that understands, accepts, and promotes unity in the midst of differences. 7. To develop the emotional intelligence of each and every one. Thanks to this project, the young people will immerse themselves in the skin of a European citizen: each one will thus understand much better the stakes of the existence of a structure which is called "Europe". They will thus become "ambassadors" of the European model for other young people who sometimes only see the negative side conveyed. The playing field is large, the opportunities exist everywhere. This opening can only be beneficial to them (increased curiosity, new dreams!) Finally, some young people will have, thanks to this project, the chance to discover another environment than their own, sometimes far from this "European" dimension because of their geographical, economic or social situation.
In each participating organization, the findings are the same: - young people have obstacles to overcome, difficult choices to make in order to achieve their personal and professional projects. Different social structures exist to support them: family, groups of friends, school. But many young people still lack the reference points to "accomplish" themselves: - the objective of autonomy sometimes remains incomplete for a long time, - Access to training and qualifications can remain limited for various reasons: lack of knowledge of certain courses of study, economic, social or geographical obstacles, a subject that is not a priority in certain organizations. - Among the basic skills, the "hard skills" are generally dealt with in the school setting. On the other hand, emotional intelligence or "soft skills", which are highly sought after in the professional context, are sometimes insufficiently worked on due to an overly "academic" framework and a didactic approach that sometimes lacks action on the part of young people. These are some of the reasons why we wish to bring a complement to the methods practiced to favor the construction of an "individual": - Take the time to ask questions about oneself: what I know about myself, what I need to discover about myself - Thinking in terms of skills rather than knowledge to find more meaning in learning (know-how) - Promote the diversity of training courses leading to qualifications sought after on the job market - To make students experience various situations that force them to leave their comfort zone in order to develop their "soft skills" in the professional context, now called "emotional intelligence". Indeed, in an unstable environment, adaptability and reactivity are qualities that are sought after and necessary to "achieve". Confidence, initiative and group work will be experienced during the different activities proposed. An additional obstacle: the intercultural specificities will increase the requirements of adaptability and tolerance of each young person. All these transversal skills worked on in the project have, beyond the shaping of an "individual", another objective to help with professional integration. At the age of 14/18, the professional environment is still unknown, even unrecognized. Opportunities to discover different work environments are sometimes rare, especially if young people are studying in general fields. Internships in companies are sometimes not planned in the schooling, or are too few to give a clear idea. On the other hand, young people are sometimes not curious to know what happens after school, or they ask the question very late... The different activities proposed in the project will arouse the curiosity of the young people on different levels: getting to know each other, discovering different study and work contexts, in their home country and in other European countries. For all these reasons, we have also decided to select the candidates for this project according to precise criteria: - gender, - social context, - economic context, - geographical context, - education
