Objectives

The project focuses on the plastic seas and the huge quantities of waste generated. The title of the project also shows the essence of the project: Do not litter! Your future is at stake. It is crucial for us to maintain our environment for the future generations and rehabilitate the contaminated areas. By living our everyday lives more environmentally consciously, a more liveable future can be provided. The site of the project is Le Vauclin in Martinique, one of the overseas county of France. This place is part of the European Union, but it is located outside of Europe, between the Atlantic and the Caribbean. The place is looked at as a touristic paradise, tourism brings a significant income for the residents. Other than this positive side of tourism, several devastating effects go with it. For instance, from time to time, the rubbish that had been thrown to the sea/ocean washed out to the shore as a result of the stormy wind, and these rubbish, wastes accumulated along the shore. During the project week, there will be a possibility to compare the rubbish/waste situation of the Atlantic and Caribbean. Prior to the project, each nation is prepared professionally for its own waste policy and conducts detailed research on various "waste situations" and solutions developed for them (eg Ocean CleanUp Ship) around the world. From the project you a retro-drawing competition and photo exhibition of all 5 nations can be seen. This will make it possible for the public to reach the project’ message: plastic seas versus sandy beach, everyone is responsible for their environment! We do believe that reducing negative environmental impacts can depend on small things.
