The Mobility aims to introduce teachers to innovative approaches to teaching and practice in VET as developed by Tknika. This will include access to Tknika's state-of-the-art facilities, elaborates, workshops, classrooms and equipment. The teachers will receive face-to-face tuition from experts on innovations in teaching, technologies and practices for the classroom. Teachers will gain an understanding of Tknika's unique approach of combining teachers with businesses to engage in applied research projects to solve real-world workplace problems and bring learning back into the classroom. Teachers were provided with case study examples of; 3-D printing projects, intelligent technologies for houses and sustainability projects. The Mobility will explore how science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) can be applied practically to solve real problems.
Innovation in Vocational Education and Training Teaching and Practice (I-VET-TP) is an Erasmus+ mobility project for teachers, including principals, who work in vocational schools in Ireland. The project provides an opportunity for up to twenty-four teachers and principals from four schools plus two organizers to partake in a study visit to Tknika (https://www.tknika.eus/en/ ) in the Basque region of Spain for one week during the mid-term in October 2022. Teachers from Ireland and the Basque region had an opportunity to network and share knowledge and experience from their teaching practice during the week-long events organized for each day of the study visit. On return from the study visit, the teachers presented their learned experience with other Irish teachers through their interactions with TUI. This mobility project will build and strengthen the relationship between TUI and Tknika and pave the way for future project developments, such as a Key Action 2 Strategic Partnership project for 2020. It will allow Tknika to develop relationships and mobilities with schools across Ireland. The Mobility will promote the status and value of VET teaching and practice and how this approach can enhance young people's pathways to work and career advancement.
