Develop the use of hand held technologies and to broaden the scope of student’s interactions from peer to peer to include teacher- student, student - teacher - parent - community and global community. We will empower our learners so that the voice of our intellectually challenged students can be heard through greater and more effective communication using technologies. Thus enabling them to be more effective participants in local and global conversations that impact on all our citizens. We will teach through specific methodologies to improve language and communication, so that interactions online are safe and positive. The continuous professional development of teachers in the use of technologies will reduce the vulnerability of ID students online. We will use staff mobilities to enhance teacher knowledge to encourage extended use of technologies and their potential to deliver 21st century solutions to Intellectual Disability student’s isolation and marginalization in society. CPD for teachers and school leaders will also assist and support parents who experience challenges with ID students addicted to gaming screen time.
· To facilitate our organization in the promotion of safety to very vulnerable special needs students. The school needs to engage young special needs pupils in a more targeted way with regards to on-line activities. · To reduce the incidents of special needs students developing anxiety disorders, depression and become even more isolated and marginalized into the future due to inappropriate online interactions. · The advancement and availability in recent years of new technology and social platforms has impacted the wellbeing of our students · To seek partner organizations to help address this concern. Technology will be used to add weight to the voice of learners with intellectual disability so that they can become effective communicators and participators in local and global conversations. · To acquire specific methodologies that will target more effective online communication and language skills. · This project was applied for to help reduce the substantial lost hours of education time to the fall out of inappropriate online communications.
