Objectives

The objectives of the project were met and even exceeded our expectations. Our objectives were that the college would add to our Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) work experience module, elements of the Europass CV for our learners and formally assess the module as part of their mobility. Our objective for Mobility activities for students to create and promote a European dimension to the college was achieved. As we have a diverse cultural in the College due to many different nationalities by using European documents such as Europass and Mobility documents this enhanced both the staff and students’ competencies.

Background

Participating in the Erasmus+ Mobility programme the students have the opportunity to complete their work experience in a European country. As a result, the students will be provided with an international learning platform which will further their education and enhance their employment prospects. They will gain experience of cultural diversity and exposure to innovative work practices. Being able to undertake this placement in a different country will give the students a broader outlook and an experience which will enrich their learning. Management competencies within the College will also be improved by participation in this project. It is hoped that this will be the beginning of a broader European link in the years ahead. This should be of huge benefit to teachers and staff in an era where closer involvement in European projects is a key element of the future in our country. This project will become part of our Self-Evaluation and Programme Improvement process, whereby we annually seek to improve the teaching and learning experiences of our teachers and students. The profile of our students is within the age group 18 – 45 years and they come from different educational, socio-economic and culture backgrounds.
