Young Men today have overcome or at least aware of the majority of social conditioning that has been imposed on the previous generations of Men. They are aware that roles of men and women have changed and the gender equality has moved considerably in balancing the books for women. They are aware of the expectations of society on them in parenting, keeping the house, being the primary carer, sexual consent, violence, pornography. But the question is do they understand it. With the ever increasing changing dynamic of families, role models for young men have become transient or they need to find them in the less traditional places such as in the home or family connections. To this end the role of youth workers and workers who work on the front line with youth men has become paramount. MDN has been working with Men and young men for twenty years and have developed a range of training programmes around engaging men in Men’s Health, Men’s Development, Masculinity and Gender and Men addressing violence against women. This programme is about introducing these techniques and models of practice with young men and boys.
