The main achievement that this project will carry forth are supporting the creation of tronger chapters that can carry out better youth work; provide the organisations with more interculturally competent youth workers, and ensure equal opportunities for volunteers around the country as well as strengthening relationships between national and Nordic volunteers and staff. The objectives are many. We hope that the project will help develop leadership within the organisations and that this will have a positive impact on the local chapter work. Throughout the process the cooperation between the Nordic AFS organisations will be strengthened and this can be build on in the future. The participants will learn from each other, explore strengths and weaknesses and share best practices. There will be focus on networking between the volunteers from different countries and from different chapters that hopefully leads to more projects in the future. Importantly, the project will help develop chapters in rural areas by strengthening leadership skills of volunteers. The project will create a platform for intergenerational learning. Finally the project will create more insight into how voluntarism can be initiated and supported in small towns and rural regions in the countries of the participating organisations. In addition we aim to: Develop participants’ awareness of their individual leadership strengths, which can be applied within and beyond AFS; Enhance existing strengths to ensure that volunteers are equipped with leadership skills that are relevant to our current organizational challenges, and our specific goals as an intercultural learning organisation; Strengthen the link between volunteers’ awareness of their own strength and skills and their ability to multiply these as effective leaders of teams; Produce leaders who value teamwork and collaboration and can activate and empower communities that are both diverse and inclusive.
