Inclusion - equityYouth (Participation, Youth Work, Youth Policy)New innovative curricula/educational methods/development of training courses

Objectives

The aim of this project is to introduce Contact Improvisation (CI) as an innovative tool to be used in youth work, connecting this way body awareness and expression with already established concepts in the field of youth work: physical contact as the key element for inclusion; and improvisation as an embodied source for creativity. Contact Improvisation is a practice that offers a wide range of possibilities and resources to be applied in order to promote inclusion, to work on the physical contact and qualities of touch between people, to develop self-acceptance and to improve the ability of active listening and awareness towards others as well as the use of non-verbal language. Within this project, we want to explore the applicability of Contact Improvisation as an innovative methodology in youth organizations, also when working with youngsters with fewer opportunities. The participants will explore the methodology and its resources by themselves and contribute to the research on how to apply them in their working field. We intend to explore the applicability of this methodology because we see CI as an innovative tool, regarding its capacity of reconnecting with our bodies and other people and combat therefore consequences young people suffer due to this lack of connection such as mental health problems like depression, anxiety, etc. The project has the following objectives: - Introduce Contact Improvisation and its philosophy as an innovative and useful tool in youth work, regarding its broad potential from the artistic, pedagogical and social and therapeutic point of few, provide concrete tools/exercises that youth workers/facilitators/educators can use for their projects and workshops - Experiment CI as an inclusive dance, dilute stigmas about age, physical condition and gender roles in dance and artistic expression. Empower and enable participants to find attunement with themselves and others thanks to non-judgemental body expression. - Educate people with an alternative to verbal language as a channel for communication, learning a holistic way of listening/communicating to oneself and others and putting emphasis on learning through the body (perceiving body and mind as equal channels for learning and experiencing and balancing them) - Discover and pass on the benefits of touch and being touched, exploring different possibilities, qualities and benefits of contact (in dance and everyday life) and disconnecting the stigmatization of physical contact and sexual-affection. - Fight the increasing number of young people with mental health problems, above all depression linked to the disconnection between people and their bodies. - Create an international network of organizations that want to work with Contact Improvisation tools as a resource in their future projects (on the local and international level).
