Objectives

The objectives that we want to achieve in the intercultural youth exchange "United we Play :-)" are: 1. The psychic and physical well-being of our young participants with and without visual impairment (blind / partially sighted) thanks to health, wellness and inter-culture workshops. 2. To share and develop best practices, especially (but not exclusively) related to the interplay between arts and disability. 3. To break down cultural stereotypes, specifically the ones related to disability, sheding light on the everyday reality experienced in partner countries and associations. 4. To provide opportunities for participants and tutors/group leaders to prepare, manage and evaluate intercultural group activities. 5. To inform participants and tutors/group leaders about further opportunities provided by the Erasmus + program, in the Youth framework and beyond. 6. To spread positive values such as respect for diversity, brother/sisterhood, inclusion of all, cooperation and common good. 7. To promote non-formal learning, extremely suitable for young people with disabilities (contrary to the formal learning.) 8. To take care of the follow-up of the exchange by devising new activities and initiatives that meet the future aspirations of the participants, their tutors/group leaders and the partner organizations. We opted for the title "United we play :-)" because, from various meetings with our youngsters and online consultation with the partners, the spirit that has emerged is to get involved and step up the game, "playing" in a wide array of fields through the daily workshops proposed by the partners: from craftsmanship to storytelling, from gardening to arts - especially music, that for blind and partially sighted youngsters is a privileged channel of expression, very suitable and strongly favored in their development process. The specific themes chosen for this key action are: 1) "Disability", 2) "Inclusion & Equity" and 3) "Creativity & Culture". 1) We have chosen the theme "Disability" as all the partners involved in the project work in this field and believe that taking care of the weakest and most disadvantaged individuals fosters not only their development but also our own one, and helps to build a better society to live in. During the exchange, as young people with disabilities have the opportunity to belong to a group and develop new practices of physical and mental well-being, the community empowers its own ability to feel and create inclusion, patience, respect and sensitivity. 2) The second theme, "Inclusion and Equity", has been chosen because the priority of visually impaired young people is to belong to the communities they live in, and have equal opportunities for living, developing themselves and learning like everyone else. In this regard, within the partnersship we have decided to share, learn and teach our local and associational best practices. Each partner is ready to present their workshops and artistic laboratories, which aim at personal expression and logical-emotional growth as detailed as indispensable for young people with and without disabilities. 3) The third theme "Creativity and Culture" reflects, instead, the intent and the pleasure of wanting to know all the cultures involved in the exchange through activities to be lived together, in turn dedicated to a country and an association through videos, games and stories aimed at clarifying stereotypes and intercultural prejudices. We would therefore like to recreate the traditional and modern atmospheres of our countries to give a more complete picture of who we are. This is why "Creativity" plays a central role: both to prepare and carry out the activities for the exchange and to create others on site in the "European" public event, to involve our local Sannio community and to illustrate our own project with the educational institutions with which we often interface.
