Human Library is a mobility project of youth workers to realize an international 6-day training course in November 2019 on the approach of the Human Library. The partners involved are from: Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Poland. The training includes 6 trainers, 20 youth workers including migrants and refugees. The idea was born from the need to improve and implement strategies of intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding at international level, promote greater awareness and knowledge of migratory flows in the current European context and gain new and effective skills in working with young people to fight against discrimination and prejudges. Although from the phenomenon of migration emerge many positive aspects (contribution to the economy and the demo-employment EU requirements), the current economic crisis, combined with context, emergency refugees on one side and terrorism on the other, it promotes the spread of feelings of hate and intolerance and the pressing return of nationalism and anti-Europeanism especially among young generations. The very idea of Europe is in crisis because of this significant humanitarian emergency. Who works daily with young people needs to acquire new practices and effective methods to overcome the barriers of prejudice, mistrust and discrimination. The aims of HL are to challenge the stereotypes, to remove prejudices and to promote the cultural dialogue. To experience on his own skin the overcome of the prejudice towards the “Different”, contributing to create a more open culture and open to the dialogue, that don’t discriminate people on the basis of their ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability condition. The Human Library is a common library with librarians, catalogs, books, readers and reading room. The difference is that to read you don’t have to turn the pages of a book, but you have to speak with a real person for half an hour. The readers come to the library, consult the catalog, they borrow a living book by its title that summarizes its story explaining a stereotype. The living book comes in, he tells his story and answer questions of the reader. There is "a refugee", "clandestine", "the prisoner", etc. The human books have the feeling of being related to prejudices and therefore, by their witness they help to break them. The training course will developed in the following training modules: 1. Knowledge and sharing : Human Library in Europe and in partners’ countries. 2. Training workshop: catalog of the stereotypes and of the xenophobic commonplaces –Human Library approach: books, librarians and human libraries. 3. Simulation/ experimentation. The methodologies used are varied: dialogic / investees for the part of knowledge and sharing - workshops / simulative for the training of librarians and living books - experiential / experimental for the final phase of open day. Expected results: to consolidate and build collaborative networks and solid and lasting international msynergies, gain / boost new methods, realize transnational Living Library events and a media ethnographic web archive of the living books, disseminate and promote the HL approach among young Europeans.
