This project proposal was jointly developed by Studio Progetto and our European partners in response to the raising needs of our local youth organisations and youth workers in order to support young people with disadvantaged background (rural youth, NEET, Roma, minorities, unemployed, refugees, migrants or all of these in the same time) to become active citizens of local and European communities and being involved to create their own lives and futures. So, we initiated local research in our local communities and encouraged our partners to make the same through online survey among young people, focus group discussions with colleagues and official community events with youth workers, youth leaders, social workers, teachers and local decision makers. All together close to 3000 young people participated in our online survey aged between 18 and 29 years old. 30 youth workers on behalf of our consortium as staff and volunteers participated in our focus group discussions and each partner had organised at least 1 or 2 community events and close to 5000 youth workers, youth leaders, social workers, teachers and local decision makers shared their opinions and needs with us in order to formulate the objectives and content of this project. The results of the local researches were uploaded to our common Dropbox and assessed by our partnership. Its summary very briefly: 20% of young people do not believe in the democratic processes anymore and do not believe that their voice is heard by politicians. 40% of young people would be happy to become local or European volunteer and make something good for its communities. 30% of youth workers have never heard about European Youth Strategy of the Commission. 70% of youth workers would like to put the Youth Goals of new European Youth Strategy into local youth work practice based on the needs of their target groups. 90% of youth organisations considered essential to get acquainted with the European Youth Strategy and improve their capacities in order to support their target groups to achieve the Youth Goals. Based on the results we defined the overall aim of the project such as to gain deeper knowledge on new European Youth Strategy as main direction of youth work between 2019 and 2027 in local and European level. Experienced youth workers, trainers and project managers share their point of views, experiences and practices concerning the Strategy and its objectives and youth goals.
