Objectives

“Boost yourself” was a youth exchange within the frame of Erasmus+ Key Action 1, that brought together 25 young people from 5 countries (Italy, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Spain) in Merine, Lecce, Italy between November 4 and 12, 2021. The project idea appeared during the “Mindful Team Management” training course, held in the same place by VulcanicaMente, where 5 participants shared their common interest in personal development and also the desire of creating something valuable brought us together. Each one of the participants represented a partner organization. After the training course, the participants went home to meet and discuss with other young people and asked them what they thought about their ideas. They all brainstormed with their communities and then in their group calls and in the end they took a common decision about the topic of their Youth Exchange Project: boosting self-confidence among young people. Therefore they started to collect the needs of the youngsters, such as getting more courage to take action, to socialize, being able to trust in themselves and their skills, have the courage to speak up, find more interesting ways to spend their free time, develop their self-confidence, being more aware of their own needs, desires and goals they want to achieve. Taking all of this into consideration with their team, they realized that the core problem was addressing that young people lack self-confidence/self-esteem. The very aim of their project became crystal clear: “to address these issues by empowering young people through different activities so they could become more self-confident, realize who are they and what they would like to achieve in life and therefore they can become a more active and capable members of our society.” So the project's OBJECTIVES became crystal clear as well: a) During the project, 25 young people improved their knowledge about themselves; they received help to realise their strong and weak points. Within this knowledge, they understood how to set realistic goals. b) During the project they improved their communication and teamwork skills. Positive role models have been also presented to them. They were supported in feeling accepted and socially included. c) During the project young participants developed a positive attitude of self-appreciation and self-acceptance. They became more confident and able to express easier their needs and feelings. They also became more aware of their bodies. By implementing this project, young people that participated to this project, became more self-aware, more self-confident and more self-connected. Boosting them towards this direction also had a big impact in local, regional, national and international level.
