The general idea of this project was born during the Training Course I’Mmigrant NOT IGNORANT, organized by our NGO CET Platform Italy on February 2018 within Erasmus+ programme (website: https://immigrantnotignorant.wordpress.com/). Through discussions and constant comparison, we agreed on the need to create a project that would enhance the competences of those who work with young people in the human rights education field. In the context analysis carried out together with our partner in our respective local contexts we noticed that many NGOs that work with youngsters and want to deal with themes like human rights and migration don’t actually have the expertise (in terms of knowledge and human resources) to do so. On the other hand, we observed that a huge number of young people don’t have enough knowledge on human rights and especially they’re not aware of the different ways they have at their disposal to participate in actions and initiatives designed to promote and defend human rights. In most of the Countries, indeed, students don’t study human or civil rights in schools, and we believe that such important objective must be addressed by European NGO, that should work with youngsters in order to stop discrimination, radicalization and marginalization of the weakest categories of people. If we want to stop such kind of processes, directly involve youngsters in the democratic life with their active citizenship and participation, to direct Europe towards the same goals, it’s fundamental to acquire new knowledge and competences to use in the work with young people, to educate and transfer them those key competences. Moreover, we realized that many NGOs in Europe are not able to teach youngsters what human rights really are, what would their violation imply (not only legally), and hot to avoid this to happen; it’s crucial to let the citizenry understand, youngsters in particular, how important is to protect and respect human rights, and expand NGOs’ base of competences. To raise awareness is fundamental, either at personal level and to improve each own community, but this is only the first step; it’s essential to implement concrete actions of active citizenship to safeguard basic human rights, starting from properly developed competences, to contribute to shape a better Europe, united in diversity. This is the reason why we wanna carry out this project: we aim to involve youth workers and staff of the NGOs that actively work with young people, in order to significantly enhance and improve their competences, knowledge and abilities to be directly used in their organizations at local, national and international level. The present project is developed exactly from the willingness to either provide youth workers with competences and methods to organiza and facilitate activities related to human rights and migration, either improving the competences of the youth NGOs that will take part to the project
