There are numerous challenges that European societies are facing nowadays. One of the sensitive problems that are widely seen across the EU is the lack of mental health awareness. This leads to a prejudicial attitude towards the people who have a mental disorder. In addition, if a person (who does not have enough knowledge about mental health) faces such problem, he/she doesn't know what to do & fear to ask for professional help, which can lead to negative consequences. A youth exchange “A Beautiful Mind” will be hosted in Lithuania, Kaunas on 18-24 of November 2019. It will involve 36 young participants from 6 different countries (Slovenia, Turkey, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland and Lithuania). The core aim of your project is to (1) increase knowledge about mental health and (2) provide youngsters with tools and techniques to prevent mental illness. This will allow to (1) decrease stigma about people with mental illness and (2) promote/support the mental well-being of the youngsters. To reach the key aim of the project mentioned above, the following objectives have been set: (1) Raising awareness about the existing mental health situation; (2) Reducing prejudices towards mentally ill; (3) Defining what is mental health and why it’s important; (4) Explaining how mental disorders are diagnosed and treated; (5) Advising youth how to live a healthier lifestyle and cope with the surrounding stress; (6) Finding ways of communicating with people having a mental disorder and ways to support them.
