Objectives

We wanted to carry out this project for several main reasons: firstly, because of Milzinu lizdas experience in European youth work: we have mentioned already that, we have implemented numerous European youth projects, we are one of the leading organisations in the region working with European youth mobility; we have seen lots of projects where organisers and partners struggle with quality issues, facilitation, leadership and management; we have a strong pool of experts, trainers and good practice that we feel could be shared with our partners; this is why we decided to host the project, because we have received a lot of enquiries and we are totally oversubscribed! Secondly, changing nature of European youth work: because of the changing nature of the world of work in general, where everybody is expected to multitask, and be good at many things at the same time, and specifically, in the youth work context, where resource constraints and financial limits mean that more often than not, European youth workers and youth leaders have to combine the expertise of youth leaders, to lead on projects, of project managers, to manage processes, people, organisations etc and of facilitators of youth meetings too; this project offered a unique and innovative training programme that we believe allowed participants to develop their competences in all three directions that are so crucial in youth work. Additionally, the fact that the new Erasmus Plus programme calls for intense training of youth workers in managing project within this new framework so that they can use all the opportunities efficiently and in a quality manner; the project was relevant to a number objectives and priorities of the Erasmus+ Programme. The project addressed the following aspects of the Erasmus Plus Programme: - E+ Aims: the overall objectives of the renewed framework for European cooperation in the youth field (2019-2020) – this included increasing the quality of youth projects and competences of youth leaders - E+ Important Features: recognition of skills – YouthPass was used in our project in addition with work with other stakeholders in the academia and the world of work to ensure greater recognition of non-formal learning; - E+ Youth Specific objectives: - The project helped to improve the level of key competences and skills of those working with young people, including those with fewer opportunities (four of our partners work only with underprivileged youth, others do this regularly as well), as well as to promote participation in democratic life in Europe and the labour market, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity, - through increased learning mobility opportunities for young people, those active in youth work or youth organisations and youth leaders, the project fostered quality improvements in youth work, including through enhanced cooperation between organisations in the youth field and/or other stakeholders (schools and enterprises); - the project enhanced the international dimension of youth activities and the role of youth workers and organisations as support structures for young people in complementarity with the European Union's external action, as all of partner organisations also work in Partner Countries. The objectives of the project identified and implemented by partners (under Milzinu lizdas co-ordination) were: - developing the necessary competences (including knowledge, skills and attitudes) of youth workers and youth leaders in facilitation, leadership and management of European youth work projects, in the context of future co-operation within the Erasmus Plus Programme - raising the quality of Erasmus Plus youth work projects through better focus on the Programmes’ important features such as European dimension, active participation, non-formal education, dissemination of results etc. - sharing experience and good practice between partner organisations in the field of European youth work, notably facilitation, leadership and management - exploring the practice of Lithuanian youth work organisations and the realities of young people in Lithuania - enhancing co-operation between partners and to develop future projects. All the objectives was successfully achieved with active involvement of project partners and participants.
