Objectives

The muscle factory (part 2) project has been designed to improve sharing of good practices, priority of Erasmus+ programme, to find and promote good practices from first edition of 'The muscle factory (part 1)' and to encourage participation in sport and physical activity. It is a follow-up to first edition youth exchange project that took place during the European week of sports 20-29 September 2018. Hence, the participants of this project have shown a genuine interest in proceeding with a follow-up that will fully implement their feedback and points to improve. The main initiators of this follow up are a group of participants from Estonia, Spain and Luxembourg that took part in 'The muscle factory (part 1)'. During the project the participants had an 'A-ha' moment on the importance of healthy lifestyle and regular exercising. Inspired by the effect that the workshops had on them as individuals, they decided to take the same frame and upgrade it with the feedback and proposed improvements by the group. It is a fact that obesity is an uprising factor in the European countries, which calls for an action to be taken. This project aims to inform young Europeans on a proper food diet and the importance of workout in the daily life of an individual. According to the last measure of eurostat (2014), the average of overweight population aged 18-24 in the participating countries of this project are as following: Luxembourg 56.4%, Estonia 57.1%, Spain 60.6%, Romania 63.2%, Poland 64.1%, Czech Republic 65% and Macedonia (no reliable statistics). For more information visit: http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php?title=File%3AShare_of_overweight_population_by_sex_and_age%2C_2014.png 'The muscle factory (part 2)' will bring 41 young people from 7 different countries aged 18-24 in Luxembourg to learn and share positive practices on healthy nutrition and the importance of practicing sports on a regular basis. The follow up of this project will involve a spectrum of countries that vary from best to worst according to obesity within young people aged 18-24, with the upgrade to introduce Pres odpad k umeni, a group of young people active in youth work from Czech Republic. This will create the contrast through which participants will make the comparison, and give an opportunity to this group of young people that struggle to bring the spirit of Erasmus+ in their small rural environment. The workshops will be of non-formal character and will include discussions and examples on positive practices within healthy nutrition and sports. When it comes to practicing sports, taking the first step is the most difficult which is why each workshop of this project will include a part with physical exercises. The positive examples and practical exercising during the project will encourage participants to start practicing sports on a regular basis. The participants will share healthy food recipes and prepare meals accordingly. The group leaders will introduce common sports practices typical for each participating country. Various exercising routines will be presented through which the participants will understand more on the differences and similarities in practicing sports all over Europe. Each workshop will include a 'do it yourself' part where the participants will cook a healthy meal, practice physical exercising etc. According to the view of the initiators of this project young Europeans perceive classical exercising as an unpleasant activity. Which is why this project will introduce exciting new ways of workout that are both fun and challenging. The routines will be specifically adopted to the needs of young Europeans. The group will create a one week meal plan that will be documented into an electronic booklet entitled 'Food for life'. This booklet will contain recipes and information on how to prepare various healthy meals and the ingredients necessary. The participants will document the process of preparing the healthy meal. These photos will be used to support the 'Food for life' booklet. The participants will record tutorial videos to present their routines in a way that the viewer can join the workout while watching the tutorial. The participants will after share these videos through social media with the aim to spread the spirit of healthy living and motivate others to start practicing sports on a regular basis. To support and celebrate the European week of sports, the participants will visit the following events: - Keelendag in Petange - 'Donkey goes kayaking race' in Diekirch Through these events, the group will get in touch with like minded people and feel that they are not alone in their quest of promoting healthy lifestyle. To upgrade the program, the participants proposed to organize our own event under the European week of sports and make it open for the local public to join in.
