Objectives

In 2019 ALA implemented a project, "CommunicART", during which one of the participants had a workshop about the accessibility of theatre and performance arts, specially for young deaf and blind people. During the evaluation part, group leaders defined a need to experience, exchange and develop new methodologies for implementing activities in the local reality for inclusion of people with special needs by using theatre and performance arts. Creative activities and self-expression can often seem off-limits to many people – and this includes the world of theatre equally. At the same time, traditional and not traditional theatre (immersive theatre or interactive theatre) is being used extensively in non-formal education to promote human rights. Human rights practitioners prove that a theatre is a powerful tool in human rights work, and theatre exercises and tools have been particularly useful for groups and communities looking to solve their problems. Yet, despite this, one of the most significant "minority" groups of our world, people with special needs, are limited in their possibilities to use this powerful tool. Following those as mentioned earlier, we have decided to develop a new project called "ArtInclusive". During the planning, we set the objectives for the project: - To introduce participants with and make them experience theatre methods (traditional and not traditional) as a tool for working with youth on the topics of inclusion and human rights; - To develop new methods for communication and inclusion for people with special needs by carrying out a training course for youth workers on social theatre; - To put the new methods into practice; - To exchange different experiences from the field of theatre and the various ways other organisations use theatre as a tool for inclusion through an evaluation meeting; - To share the impact of the previous training activity and build a platform of partners for new projects related to theatre for inclusion; - To create a booklet of recommendations on inclusiveness in theatre and performance arts. The specific objectives pursued by the Erasmus+ Programme in the field of youth that is in direct link with our project idea are the following: - To improve the level of critical competencies and skills of young people, including those with fewer opportunities, as well as to promote participation in democratic life in Europe and the labour market, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity, in particular through increased learning mobility opportunities for young people, those active in youth work or youth organisations and youth leaders, and through strengthened links between the youth field and the labour market; - To foster quality improvements in youth work, in particular through enhanced cooperation between organisations in the youth field and/or other stakeholders; - To enhance the international dimension of youth activities and enhance the capacity of youth workers and organisations in their support for young people in complementarity with the European Union's external action, in particular through the promotion of mobility and cooperation between stakeholders from Programme and Partner Countries and international organisations.
