Many organizations through the funding programme of Erasmus+ are organizing training courses which tackle different issues which are relevant to them and to the partners who join the projects. The problem is that many organizations do not have the necessary skills set to design and implement a good quality training programme. Many of these organizations, although well intended, lack the basic principles in training and non-formal knowledge thus fail to be efficient in the message that they are trying to send. In addition, training within the Erasmus+ framework are similarly molded, using the same methodologies without thinking about the change which is occurring in the mentality of young people and youth workers who are the target of these activities. Due to technological advancement and increase in internet connectivity and usage, research shows that Millennials developed a new sense of the meaning-making process. This change needs to be taken into account when designing training courses which are targeting millennials and it thus important to 'fuse' the traditional methods which are well known within the non-formal field with new methodologies to be more relevant to millennials. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, our project had to be cancelled and thus we did not achieve what we had aimed for. Had the project been carried out it would have provided the participants with the necessary competencies through an intensive training of trainers. During this 10-day training course, the participants would have obtained the basic principles on which training programmes should be built upon. The participants attending this training course would have also been given online coaching sessions to assist them to develop a project of their own. FUSE training of trainers was to cover the following topics: - Group dynamics - Facilitation process - Reflection and evaluation process - Ethical issues in a Training environment - Communication skills (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) - Public Speaking - Assessing the needs of participants - How to design an effective training programme - Identity Development Stages - Coaching - Ways of Learning - Conflict Management - Self Assessment and Self Directed learning - Training in intercultural Environments By exploring the above-mentioned topics the participants would have been equipped with the essential skills needed to design and implement relevant and effective training programmes. This will also result in a bigger impact on many young people who will benefit from having youth workers/trainers who are more skilled in designing and implanting non-formal activities.
