Objectives

The project is an exchange program between young people from the organizations from Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and from London (United Kingdom). Thru dance and theatre activities we aim to bring together two youth groups in which they compare each other's worlds of life. The desired goal of the organizations is to have young people successfully activated socially. This involves learning skills such as learning to work together as a team, creating involvement by organizing weekly meetings where they are informed about social issues. In addition, they learn to take charge of their own activities, which leads to assertiveness. The exchange project stands for discussing the problems you face as a young person of African decent in a large European city. Making young people resilient to these social issues. Important in this project is that two exchange projects will take place. Interlock will travel to London in July / August 2019 for the first part of the exchange. Peckham Theater will then travel to Amsterdam in October 2019 for the exchange with Interlock. We think it is important that the intended results from the 1st July / August exchange in London are evaluated and continued in Amsterdam during the period until the October exchange. It is essential that both youth groups observe each other's worlds on the spot and can implement them in practice through exchange activities. Each exchange group consists of 12 participants and 3 supervisors. In short statements they talk about: - Develop self-related characteristics and competences - broaden their horizons - Learn about other cultures - Identify and dismantle their own stereotypes - Practice inclusive cross-cultural communication. - Learning about the character strengths needed to combat social exclusion and discrimination. - Non-formal methods for opening conversations about diversity in their own communities.- Take the experience home with them and teach others - Self-awareness/self-perception - Cultural identity - Influence on vocational development
