NGOs are very often based on the voluntary engagement of young people willing to dedicate their time for different reasons. If well managed, voluntary work is a win-win situation for all parties involved- volunteers, organisation and local community: 1) volunteer as s/he earns specific hard & soft skills & get more chances to find a job in future 2) organisation as it gains support, new ideas and extra accomplishments, unmanageable without the commitment of volunteers, and 3) local community improves and becomes better place as volunteers by their example show how to make a difference. Also, crucial to mention newly approved "European Solidarity Corps" programme which is still very unclear for many organisations. We believe that it creates opportunities for young people to volunteer or work and also local communities and other people benefit from it as well. However, for volunteering to be a success story, motivation, enthusiasm and creativity of volunteers need to be framed. As well as volunteers need to be supported in order to reach their objectives. It is a difficult art for project coordinators to mentor/coach local volunteers to initiate activities independently and successfully. Moreover, even if volunteers are successfully involved in civil society initiatives, very often these positive examples do not reach a wider public as visibility is only of limited reach. Another aspect of volunteering in the East and West of Europe is the low involvement of disadvantaged youth from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Volunteering is, unfortunately, in many cases something done by young people with higher education and from higher economic backgrounds. Consequently, the objectives of the training course are: - To understand how European Solidarity Corps functions and be able to adapt it in practice; - To conceptualise with the project partners, approach to volunteering in their work context; - To foster organisational and individual competences in planning, implementing, mentoring and evaluating local and international volunteering projects; - To develop organisational strategies for inclusion of young people in volunteering projects, specifically those with fewer opportunities, marginalized youth and refugees; - To develop organisational check lists and procedures for the most essential steps in volunteering Projects; To ensure that these learning objectives could be met and keep quality of the project, it is important that the participants would be precisely selected. The exact characteristics of future participants (it has been decided together with all project partners) have been set. Regarding the profile of participants with fewer opportunities, we will involve people with refugee background, youthworkers/ youth-leaders who faced social obstacles, economic obstacles, coming from rural areas, etc.
