Norsensus Mediaforum (Norway) and Fundatia Danis (Romania) have been working for several years with young people, developing expertise, at local, national and European level, in supporting young people to develop personally and professionally, to be more active in the community, to make their voice heard, but also to start and run their social, business or volunteer initiatives. Based on this experience and on the ongoing interaction with the young people, employers, entrepreneurs and other civil society organizations from our networks, we observed three relevant challenges that the European context brings to young people: Find their place on the challenging and more and more demanding labour market, which asks young people to have higher and higher digital skills level, but also to be more and more adaptable and flexible to the fasting changes from any industry; Make themselves listened and engaged in the community decisions, and connect more for greater impact in the decisions that affect their future; Reinvent their communities, supporting the increasing diversity of these communities and the new social challenges generated by migration, technology, demographic changes, climate change, political and economical insecurities, etc. Through Innovation Express project we aim to make our work better, to support our youth workers to better serve young people in responding to these European challenges. Thus, the project contributes to the professional development of youth workers, who will learn how to use new methods and digital tools and develop new activities and projects for youth, for enhancing young people’s sense of initiative, increasing their employability and social inclusion, and supporting them to better connect and express their opinions in the community. Also at the institutional level, the project aims to support the partner organizations to diversify their funding sources, design and redesign their services for youth using user-centered methods, digitize more of their work, and develop sustainable communication strategies and membership systems. The project aims to professionalize youth workers and contribute to the capacity building for quality youth work of their organizations, having a direct impact on the youth workers’ work with young people for developing their sense of initiative, digital and future work skills, and the capacity for better expressing their opinions and for better inclusion in the community. The specific objectives of the job shadowing activities are: Equip youth workers with competences to support young people to put their social initiatives in practice and reinvent their communities, while gaining a powerful voice in these communities; Equip youth workers with competences and innovative educational methods for supporting young people to better adapt to the fast changing labour market; Support youth workers and their organizations to diversify their funding sources, develop or improve membership systems, better involve their stakeholders and provide more user-centered services for youth; Develop youth workers’ digital competences and equip them with knowledge and skills necessary to use digitized educational tools for young people. The project targets directly the general objectives of Erasmus+ for the mobility of youth workers, investing in the youth workers’ competences, thus the professional development of the youth workers, in the benefit of their organizations and communities. Besides, the project contributes to the increasing capacity of the partner youth organizations, supporting them to better serve young people in responding to the current societal challenges.
