Objectives

ReMeDY – Ready to Mediate. Direction: Youth! aims at raising awareness among youth about mediation and conflict transformation as constructive and peaceful approach to managing conflicts. Conflict Transformation is a way of approaching conflicts as something natural in life that sometimes is even difficult to resolve totally, so it works to create constructive processes to engage with them in a peaceful way. Under this vision, mediation has a great potential as a constructive means for conflicts management, so developing mediation skill will empower youth workers to engage with conflicts with security and probability of success without recurring to violence. In order to do that this project has two main objectives: (1) to show participants what mediation is (concept, principles, role of mediator) and its benefits for managing conflicts that arise either in their organizations as youth workers and in their communities, so we empower participants to face conflicts with a transformative approach and use mediation to try to solve them, and (2) to enhance the creation of a network of organizations with expertise in the topics of mediation and/or conflict transformation (or willing to gain it) and interested in developing future projects on the topic together.
