Objectives

YETI T will be a training insert on a mobility of youth workers program on the Erasmus + framework that will take place in Branca, Albergaria-a-Velha (Portugal), for a nine days' rich program of activities composed by theorical, practical and reflective sessions that, in the end, will allow participants gain new skills, tools and techniques they can use on their professional reality. This participants, that will be carefully selected, must be dedicated professionals working with youngsters at-risk, socially excluded and with less opportunities and must be whiling to enrich their professional skills by the use of a new approach through a new way of communication - illustration - a tool that we, as host organization, came to realize as being very powerful near youngsters with the cited characteristics. Our recognition of the potential of this tool and the exercises we came to experiment and learn made us believe that this knowledge is very powerful when dealing with youngsters that, for a set of reasons, lack self esteem, social skills, expression skills, personal projects' development, presentation of ideas and learning capacities. With this in mind it is our aim to pass this experience to others through a role of presentations and exercises that would make the participants involved personally feel how powerful this knowledge could be, giving them the opportunity of feeling a personal development through it so that after they can pass it to the youngsters they work with. The chosen facilitators were youngsters at-risk not a long time ago and, through visual language, they made their way through an artistic career of success – presenting themselves as real and close examples of the exposed, we believe they represent the most original and important characteristic of this training. Through the facilitators activities, participants will develop personal and practical skills as well as pedagogical methods that together will allow youth workers pass this development method to their own youngsters at-risk based on the fact that the used tool can be used by everyone, doesn’t need translation or training to be used, it’s not categorized as “good” or “bad” used and can be done by everyone everywhere – being probably the ultimate universal language. In sum, with this training we want to achieve actual change and results on the youth workers that will participate on it by giving them knowledge, tools and a set of skills that will allow them to multiply the impact of the project by the application of this methods on their youngsters at-risk and by being able to pass this knowledge to fellow youth workers. The specific objectives are the creation of an enriching and innovative training; the recognition on the native capacities of the presented tool by the participants and partners; the actual use of this tool and learned techniques by the participants back on their professional reality; the measurable impact in terms of number of locals, youngsters and youth workers that benefit from the training; the recognition of the seriousness of the host and partner organizations; the recognition of the Erasmus + opportunities; the change of experiences and ideas between the participants; the personal development of this participants in terms of working within a multicultural group (development of a tolerance and lack of prejudices way of thinking); creation of practical material that will help disseminate what was learned and developed.
