Objectives

The social problem that we intend to meet with the development of this project is the social exclusion and discrimination of young people, due to the absence of effective methods for the promotion of social inclusion and tolerance. This is a serious, neglected global problem which has grave consequences, which can reach an irreversible degree not only for the future of young people but also for society as a whole. More than a quarter of the young population (15-29 years old) residing in Portugal and the EU are at risk of social exclusion (27.5% - Eurostat, 2017), living in an extremely vulnerable condition, unable to participate in society, due to the fact that they face diverse processes of exclusion and have fewer opportunities than their peers. These problems are often accompanied by discriminatory situations related to ethnic, religious, gender, economic, geographical and social issues, among others. Therefore, it is extremely important to create a range of actions, initiatives and dynamics that foster social inclusion, tolerance and diversity through participatory, innovative and integrative methodologies that bring young people from different contexts into interaction, enabling them to acquire core competences and values for their full development, through the provision of opportunities for expression, mobility and learning that are urgent to be made available to them. NEEDS - Creation of initiatives and dynamics of inclusive and participatory opportunities for young people through culture; - Recognition and appreciation of the cultural process as a support for social inclusion and diversity; - Recognition and appreciation of social inclusion and diversity as a means for the personal, social and professional development of young people; - Transformation of the social reality of young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, at risk of social exclusion; - Equipment of youth organizations and youth workers with skills and tools to enable them to improve their work to promote social inclusion and equal opportunities for young people. MAIN GOALS - Promotion of social inclusion, diversity and tolerance in young people through culture, especially dance. - Creation of initiatives and dynamics, based on the methodology of non-formal education (NFE), to promote social inclusion, diversity and tolerance in young people; - Promotion of interculturality, dialogue and European values; - Raise awareness about the importance of cultural and artistic expression for the personal, social and professional development of young people; - Promotion of equal access to inclusive and participatory opportunities; - Encouragement of the development of skills in young people through participatory methodologies and strengthening synergies between the various existing methodologies; - Raise awareness and appreciation about culture, especially dance, as a tool of excellence to promote social inclusion, tolerance and diversity among young people; - Promotion, development and sharing of skills, good practices and tools among the participating organizations for the implementation of transnational projects and initiatives aimed at the social inclusion of young people through culture and participatory methodologies; - Dissemination of the results and social impacts obtained by the project with the purpose of replicating the good practices suggested here in other social contexts and geographic scopes; - Establishment or strengthening of networks of transnational partnerships between organizations working in the field of youth, social inclusion and culture.
