VOICES was the last exchange of young people promoted by SOPRO – Solidarity and Promotion within the scope of the Erasmus+ Youth in Action Program, which involved organizations from different countries - Italy, Spain, UK and Portugal - between the period of 01 October 2019 to 30 September 2022. The project was aimed at young people with fewer opportunities, between 18 and 30 years old and took place in Barcelos (Portugal) from July 20 to 27, 2022, involving 24 young participants and 5 leaders. With the VOICES project, we were able to promote reflection and discussion among the different participants on gender equality issues. It was our intention to train and provide participants with useful tools for the adoption of more egalitarian attitudes and practices; empower participants to prevent gender-based violence; improve the skills needed to implement healthy behaviors in dating relationships; provide participants with skills that enhance assertive behavior and attitudes that specifically and more broadly aim to promote socio-personal and relational skills, stimulate critical thinking in the field of human rights, foster a spirit of initiative and autonomy of young people, promoting multiculturalism and valuing intercultural dialogue through dynamic, creative and, above all, responsible activities. With the different activities promoted during the exchange, we were also able to encourage the participation of young people in democratic life in Europe; we strengthen young people's skills in terms of citizenship and a sense of belonging to society and the European Union; we promote a sense of belonging to the European project and build bridges between the European Union and young people to regain confidence and increase participation; empower young people to have equitable access to youth organizations and European youth programs, building a society based on European values and identity, and we also make it possible to improve participants' foreign language skills.
