Europe is facing a crisis affecting young people with unprecedented levels of unemployment. In this context, the main opportunities for young people are represented by low opportunities to increase youth initiative and the lack of visibility and tolerance of a part of the European society. During 25 years of history and activities, ARCUM has developed a work of integration and capacity development in young people of Minho’s University and from the city of Braga. In this way, it organizes over time various social and voluntary activities, a possibility of international mobility and greater possibility of insertion of young people into cultural groups related to music and tradition, groups that develop the students with methodologies of a non-formal and informal education. It was in this sense that ARCUM emerged, with the support not only of the Minhota’s Academy, but also from various regional and national entities. The Associação Recreativa e Cultural Universitária do Minho is currently composed of 6 cultural groups, among them the Tuna from Minho’s University (Tuna Universitária do Minho), the Folklore Group of Minho’s University (Grupo Folclórico da Universidade do Minho), the Popular Music Group of Minho’s University (Grupo de Música Popular da Universidade do Minho), Bomboémia, the Feminine Academic Tuna (Tuna Académica Feminina da Universidade do Minho and the Poetry Group of Minho’s University (Grupo de Poesia da Universidade do Minho). All these groups, along with the joint activities of ARCUM, develop a remarkable work of musical and cultural projection at local, national and international level and a constant work in the qualification and development of new competences in the young generation of Minho’s University and the city of Braga. It is important to mention some activities with a social character that ARCUM promotes. In partnership with the Portuguese Red Cross, the National Food Bank and the Social Bank from the parish council, a campaign to promote donations of food and clothes among members and with a direct contact through the population of Braga to help the members to promote volunteer and social support skills. In addition, ARCUM has a strong relationship with Need Cooperativa, an association that works daily to promote better integration and education of children and young people as a motivating word of difference. This cooperation, in varied events promoted by Need Cooperativa, allows members of ARCUM with civic capacities and to work together. In this way, with the ambition of ARCUM, the direction decide to integrate the European projects, as they believe that they are an excellent resource and a more important way for the development of skills in the associates. This particular case, in the structure of "Minho's Culture" aims to find solutions to the various challenges that a young generation is exposed, the challenges that are in communion with the objectives of the Erasmus + program and the priorities of the National Agency.
