Objectives

The low level of involvement of young people in politics is a scourge that affects the development of democratic societies and, above all, undermines the dreams and aspirations of youth in various countries, and this is something that must be dealt with. In May 2018, an OECD study indicates that 40% of young people have no interest in politics and only 28% (worldwide) admit to having participated in the last electoral acts. In line with numerous studies, which have concluded that in terms of attitude and behavior, young people are less and less predisposed to participate in the political process, and especially in voting. A low participation rate weakens democratic legitimacy and can even become an indicator in the "health of democracy". Engaging young people in shaping tomorrow's policies is crucial because inclusive participation is a fundamental political and democratic right. Moreover, the active fomentation of the inclusion of young people in political processes is not only towards norms, values and rights, but also about practical politics. Having grown up in a period of transformation related to the increasing use of information and communication technologies, young people bring new visions and ideas to the political sphere, so it is very important to encourage their active participation. In order to contribute to the improvement of this scenario that invades the daily life of young people, it is important to develop projects that promote active participation and contribute to the development of young people giving them more information. More informed citizens can make their decisions on a more solid basis and become more aware of their contribution to future projects. The importance of a stimulating environment for the growth of the interest in actively participating in the political processes among young people is decisive. Young people who have contact with active and participatory youth models are more likely to become active and participatory. Following the above, this project has these objectives: - raise awareness of the importance of active young people's participation in politics and their involvement in decision-making as a means of developing full citizenship through non-formal education; - motivate young people to participate in the community life of their community; - empower young people with political knowledge to understand political language and political participation; - encourage the use of digital tools as a strategy to boost their active participation; - develop young people's spirit of initiative, creativity, autonomy and critical thinking; - stimulate the involvement of marginalized youth, refugees and migrants as a means of integration; - training and qualify young people with the necessary skills to disseminate the fundamental common values of our European society; - grow conscience for European citizenship and sustainable growth; - promote intercultural, inter-religious dialogue and diversity in young people; - reinforce language skills.
