Objectives

With the ’Greenspiration’ project we wanted to create awareness of young people about global challenges and specifically about environmental issues. The aim was to bring their attention to sustainable development, and on the way how most of Europeans live and consume and produce, and what is the social and environmental effect of such lifestyle. The goal was to discover together what we can do as individuals and as communities by sharing best practices from 6 different European countries, by learning recycling and upcycling techniques and by living together for 9 days as a small community where we practice inclusion and democracy. We also wanted to focus on the importance of inclusion – everyone can be included in the creation process and the responsibility is shared. The recycling techniques we used were easy-to-learn and, there was always space for self-expression and creativity and the materials we used are also available for everyone, regardless of economical- or social background, culture, age, gender. The aim of the project was to promote creativity and inclusion by discovering and applying a new method what we call „creative recycling” in youth work, and especially in work with disadvantaged target groups. Our objectives were: • to share best practices of inclusion, creativity and ’network thinking’ in general and in youth work by using the method of creative recycling • to experience the method of creative recycling to be able to react on environmental issues in an innovative way, and reach wide public • to include disadvantaged young people in the sustainable lifestyle, support the first steps, improve their sense of initiative and creativity • to empower young people to become active citizens, through sharing of critical knowledge and understanding of a sustainable way of living
