Objectives

The purpose of "Multi-skills Carousel" youth exchange is to create a secure environment in which participants will be able to use elements of non-formal education for their personal and professional development so as to increase their chances of integration into the labor market. For that we set the following objectives: 1. provide a 2 day theoretical framework for a group of 30 participants from 6 countries to conceptualize and realize the causes that make it difficult to integrate young people into the labor market and the associated risks 2. Facilitating the exploration of the capacities and personal potential of the 30 participants through the realization of 4 personal development sessions for the purpose of raising awareness of the talents and their own values 3. involve 30 participants in 4 days of non-formal activities aimed at developing their social, civic and multicultural skills and attitudes needed both for sustainable integration into the labor market and for the promotion of European values among young people 4. we offer the 30 participants the chance to demonstrate their ability to put to use the competences and knowledge gained in the project by creating 5 workshops with the students of a high school during a school day Background: In 2019, the rate of unemployed 18-24 year-olds in the EU-28 area is around 14%, which, is about 3.3 million young people (18-24 years) who do not have a job. The highest values were registered in Greece (39.5%), Italy (32.8%), Spain (32.4%) and Croatia (23%), while in Romania (16.1%) we are still above the European average of 14.9% . (Eurostat source: https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/Unemployment_statistics#Youth_unemployment). In the EU the youth unemployment rate reached 15.1% in May 2018, compared to 24% in the year 2013, while among 15-24-year-olds in the NEET category, the percentage dropped from 13.2 in 2012 to 10.9 in 2017 (source: http://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/ro/headlines/society/20171201STO89305/masuri-ue-privind-ocuparea-fortei-de-munca-in-randul-tinerilor) These variations in percentages are due mainly to the last economic crisis, but also to reasons such as the different labor market policies adopted by each country, or demographic change. In order to stabilize the labor market, the EU intervened with various measures, and in the case of young people, we can recall the funds top-up for European programs such as Erasmus + and the Youth Employment Initiative. Thus, through this project, we aim to contribute, at local level and to the extent of the capacity of the current partnership, to the EU efforts to improve the integration of young people into the labor market and education system.
