Looking for ways to help our young people to improve their media literacy competences, we contacted our network of European organisations active in the field of youth. Interestingly, they confirmed that their youth face the same COMMON challenge and they are interested in joining forces for a mobility project. Together, we were able to trace the following CAUSES of the lack of media literacy among youth: 1) Poor goal setting skills while using the media 2) Difficulties in finding good quality information in the media 3) Limited ability to critically evaluate media information 4) Lack of ability to engage in participatory and constructive media dialogue In order to address the CAUSES of the lack of media literacy, we set out the following OBJECTIVES: 1) Improving the media usage goal setting skills of 55 young people aged 18-29 and 11 group leaders from project partner countries in a period of 8 months. 2) Improving the ability of 55 young people aged 18-29 and 11 group leaders from project partner countries to find good quality information in the media in a period of 8 months. 3) Bettering the ability of 55 young people aged 18-29 and 11 group leaders from project partner countries to evaluate media information critically in a period of 8 months. 4) Boosting the ability of 55 young people aged 18-29 and 11 group leaders from project partner countries to engage in participatory and constructive media dialogue in a period of 8 months. Our project contributes to the achievement of the GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE ERASMUS+ PROGRAMME, the overall objectives of the renewed framework for European cooperation in the youth field; Media4You promotes online safety and the well-being in the digital world, in line with the social inclusion ROMANIAN HORIZONTAL PRIORITY of E+. Media literacy cannot therefore be limited to young people but needs to encompass adults as well as teachers and media professionals. By addressing the media literacy in the digital environment, the Media4You project supports the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities (including young NEETs), as guided by the ROMANIAN SPECIFIC PRIORITY for youth. While addressing the ERASMUS+ SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE FOR THE YOUTH MOBILITY KA1, Media4You will improve the level of media literacy and the digital skills, which are key competences and skills of young people (including those with fewer opportunities). At the same time, Media4You will promote participation in democratic life, active citizenship and social inclusion in the digital world.
