Objectives

Schools strive to achieve increased international cooperation, both as eTwinning projects and as larger school development projects like Erasmus+ and with this project we wanted the schools to experience the benefits from working in international collaborations and how it could be done. The self-assessment showed that assistive technology was an underdeveloped area in our schools overall, therefor it is important that this project gave them the opportunities they need to both individually learn from others by participating and observing other educators in other countries but also start to collaborate with others from Malmö and start working collegially with them to develop models/tools for how they can change their approach/work methods in their own classroom together. Ultimately we were aiming to reach all students in our schools, to give them increased self-confidence, increased goal achievement, more opportunities to express their knowledge. It is particularly important that students with NPF, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties really feel that they have the structure they need to develop into strong global citizens. As Ross Greene wisely says, "All kids want to do well if they can."

Background

We had a mobility project running from 2017 to 2019 and it was really successful. It was about ICT and technology to enhance learning and internationalisation and we had 114 teachers and principals who visited different schools all over Europe during the two years. We had meetings where teachers and principals shared what they learned and implemented parts or whole methods they learned. When we evaluated that project together the principal of Apelgårdsskolan said that assisstive technology was something that they have now discovered that they really needed to focus on and then the other participating schools agreed that they have discovered the same. When the use of technology started to be more and more implemented in pedagogical contexts assistive technology really was something that we now needed to focus on. We also have a self evaluation system based on another Erasmus+project called Digital Schools of Europe and that survey also pointed very urgently that we needed to adress how we woek with assistive technology. We therefor decided to apply for a new mobility project since the first one was so successful and if it was something that we learned from the first one it was that we learn and develop best together with others.
