Objectives

The "Deaf rainbow 2" project emphasizes goals related to the general education of deaf and hard of hearing people. There are few connections with related organizations (societies, associations, clubs) in Slovenia, which is why we decided on international cooperation within the framework of the Erasmus+ program. For this purpose, we started working more intensively more than ten years ago by connecting with foreign organizations that are active in the field of youth work with the Deaf population, and we will continue with these activities in the future, especially within the framework of the Erasmus+ program. By carrying out the project, we wanted to offer our members the possibility of active education abroad on the topic of youth work with people with special needs, the possibility of socializing with other Deaf people, developing language, cultural and social competences, improving the activities of our association and providing participants with growth and satisfaction as well in the personal sphere. For this purpose, we carried out different types of mobility (preparatory visit, youth exchange, study visit, educational visit at the workplace). Unfortunately, due to the consequences of the Covid-19 epidemic, we were unable to realize a group activity - a seminar for finding partners and developing projects. We decided on such a diverse selection of activity types because we already knew the project partners well before submitting the project proposal and we knew that we could rely on them in all phases of project implementation and that they would be ready to help us in case of problems/challenges/ complications; this was actually confirmed when we were looking for suitable dates to carry out physical mobilities, covid itself changed our original plans quite a bit. Despite these changes, we managed to realize all the goals of the individual mobility flows that we set ourselves when applying for the project. The content of mobility also remained unchanged and we implemented it in full. In the operation of our association, we focus intensively on improving our competences in the field of work for and with young people. We believe that we can only become better by connecting and because we know that diversity is enriching, we welcome all interested, hard-working and motivated responsible individuals, regardless of whether they can hear (hard of hearing) or not (deaf). We are a society that prioritizes ensuring equal opportunities, breaking down prejudices and working on the inclusion of all individuals, including those with special needs. Of course, we do most of the work here as volunteers. We also managed to achieve this by implementing this project, as our project partners share a very similar opinion. We set ourselves the goals of the project: -Connecting with foreign partners and acquiring new partners, as there are not many similar organizations in Slovenia: to promote quality enhancement, innovation excellence and internationalization at the level of institutions dealing with the issue of persons with special needs (deaf) and training institutions, especially with better international cooperation between education and training providers and other stakeholders. In the project, we connected with quality partner organizations that we already know from other projects. -Transferring practical and theoretical experiences in the field of deafness: the goal of our activity at the partner organization is to transfer their practical and theoretical experiences to our organization and, through dissemination, also to a wider audience. -Section on the website of the association - here we record examples of good practices and professional articles. -Learning a foreign sign language and transferring methods and forms of work in learning sign language. -Encouraging the social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities (deafness is a disability, educational difficulties, economic barriers, cultural differences, social barriers, geographical barriers). -Improving the evaluation of our project: we evaluated all activities in the project with the help of specific internal forms. -Improving dissemination activities: systematic dissemination of results in the Slovenian and international space: the content of the project will be published in more detail on our website, we have prepared promotional materials that each member of other projects that we carry out in the DUGS association receives, joint meetings for all projects - to share experiences and connect between projects. Our goals are linked to the specific goals of the Erasmus+ program, which envisages quality partnerships, promotes quality and internationalization at the level of educational and related institutions, thereby creating a European area of lifelong learning, while at the same time aiming to improve language teaching and learning and to promote wide linguistic diversity and intercultural consciousness. We pursue all these goals with our specific goals.
