The aim of the youth exchange was to connect young people from two very different backgrounds and to give them the opportunity to get to know each other thoroughly through various activities, to connect and to build a bridge between different cultures with their ideas, which will be able to be used by others, not only the participants of the exchange . With this project, we wanted to address the area of intercultural and interreligious dialogue and emphasize the importance of protecting and advocating for human rights and fundamental freedoms, regardless of where people come from. When planning and implementing the Hummus and Jam project, we adhered to the goals of the Erasmus+ program, such as equality, solidarity and social inclusion, with a special emphasis on encouraging critical thinking and self-initiative of young people. The goals of the youth exchange, which follow the goals of the Erasmus+ program: were to strengthen the international dimension of youth activities and the role of youth workers and organizations, including by promoting mobility and cooperation between the Union and partner countries (with the youth exchange between Slovenia and Palestine, we expanded cooperation between Union and partner countries). Improve the level of key competences and skills of involved young people (empower young people by addressing critical thinking topics, promoting active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity). Through various methods of informal learning and mutual cooperation, we promoted intercultural understanding and solidarity. We talked about current events at home and around the world and learned about the importance of active global citizenship with a critical approach to them. Promote a higher quality of youth work (more cooperation between youth organizations; new knowledge and competences for young people, which are an incentive for them to get involved in youth work programs in advance). Empowering Slovenian and Palestinian youth to become active members in multiplication activities after the exchange itself and continue to be involved in the field of international cooperation, human rights and fundamental freedoms.
