Plusko (applicant organisation) have already 6 years of experience in organizing winter expedition courses for young people. There was always big interest among young people to participate in this course and we never had problems to find participants. We developed an extended process of the preparation of participants prior to the course and also developed different educational activities which are using winter conditions. And we thought it might be interested also for other organisations in Europe if we share our know how. Moreover, we also identified emerging trends among young people linked to our topic. Trendwolves (www.trendwolves.com) - trend research, marketing and communication agency which monitor global youth culture and trends in their last report describe the emerging need of young people to spend time with a closer connection to nature. Be some time on purpose offline and out of the digital world and go more into themselves. Another trend is also to try more where are their borders, both physical and mental and often go to big extremes. And winter conditions and sleeping outside in minus 10 is for many extreme out of the comfort zone. More globally we can see it for example on the big rising popularity of Wim Hof method (https://www.wimhofmethod.com/) among young people which combines cold therapy, breathing and commitment. Based on this we made a proposal for possible partner organisations to see if there is a real need for this kind of course and reactions were very positive. As for us, multiplication of what participants learn is very important, we selected partner organisations which have also natural conditions to multiply what they learn (or in their neighbouring country) and that are very motivated to start using winter conditions on their activities with young people. Main objectives are to develop youth workers competencies (through their personal experience) - for being able to spend longer time outside in winter nature (including sleeping outside, cooking from snow etc.) - how to use different educational activities which are unique for the winter environment - to give them all necessary theoretical background that they will be able to to do safely activities in winter conditions with youngsters in their home country - to empower cooperation among partner organisations on winter projects in the future (e.g. youth exchanges)
