Objectives

Be the change project (training course) is bringing the topic of behavioural patterns and mindfulness together to one table. Especially in current times, it is crucial to know how to be present in order to nourish one´s mental and physical health. By implementing the Be the change project we want to achieve empowerment of youth workers to stay in the present moment to use or fight their habits/patterns in order to help youth not to fall into unwanted situations, enhance their critical thinking and not let them be influenced by different, many times radical, groups. We want to show the youth workers ways how they can connect with youth more easily through sharing something they have in common (patterns/habits, fears, stress other emotions). We want to achieve understanding and adoption of different tools, methods and techniques that we will provide during the training course. With the project, we want to approach youth workers from various backgrounds so they can lead youth and be the eye-opening, informative and objective body in the youth´s process of learning and self-development. The main objectives of Be the Change project are: · To explain the importance of being present in the here and now and the use of mindfulness in the youth work (9 attitudes of mindfulness, keeping of the focus, useful meditational techniques according to “Guided mindfulness meditation” by Jon Kabat-Zinn) · To acknowledge the situations in which the youth workers are falling into their negative patterns including stereotypes and prejudices about the youth and to focus on using the stereotypes and prejudices for their benefit. · To equip and provide youth workers with methods, tools and techniques based on personal development and non-formal learning which the youth workers can use while working with the youth on the topic of patterns, habits and mindfulness (for example systematic coaching, Thinking traps model, gestalt theatre; how to define the pattern properly) · To support participants in understanding the learning processes and especially in the context of intercultural learning and non-formal education, so they are able to use them effectively. · To help youth workers show the youth pitfalls of non-objective ideas and radicalism. · To help young people they are working with to create opportunities and find ways how to get over their patterns thanks to non-formal education tools. This patterns may be arising from social exclusion, lack of participation, intercultural misunderstandings etc. and they are limiting them in their lives. · To create a booklet which will be summarizing the practices used in the training course and which will result from the cooperation of the participants. The booklet will be shared with all of the partner organisations, which will be asked to promote it further. · To implement all above mentioned in the practices of every participant back in their home country and to prove it by providing audiovisual material from the follow-up activities maximum 2 months after the end of the training course. · To encourage international cooperation, networking and knowledge sharing among youth workers throughout Europe. We are linking to Erasmus+ programme objectives to develop youth workers with competences and improve the quality of teaching, training and youth work across Europe. We are also focusing on spreading diversity, tolerance, human rights and multiculturalism in learning groups, thus supporting the inclusion of all the participants involved. Through youth workers attending our project, we also enhance critical thinking of the youth and promote common values that the democratic society stands on.
