Objectives

Both tangible and intangible cultural assets are the lanterns that illuminate our way to the future. Such values brought from the past by each society are the permanent wealth of societies. It is the human and civic duty for each individual to protect these assets and pass them on to future generations. Especially young people are interested in today's popular occupations and arts when shaping their future planning. Their interest in culture, art and sports is determined by contemporary tools that are imposed by the modern age. Under these circumstances, it is possible to say that the young people are disconnected from the past. Young people are often indifferent to past events and phenomena, insensitive to the cultural and artistic values that shape the previous generations. The objectives of our project are: To increase young people’s capacity for bonding between past and future, to increase their knowledge about cultural heritage by introducing them to the old professions and the arts, especially those who are facing disappearance, To develop their research, analysis, synthesis, imagination, association and comparison skills, and strengthen their personal development, To develop their social and intercultural awareness, linguistic and communicative abilities. Our project is Erasmus + Youth Exchanges project. The application will be realized by Romania,Croatia,Lıhuanian,Macedonia and Turkey on 06-15 April 2020 with 35 participants in Kahramanmaras . Participants are high school and university students and new graduates of these schools. The gender balance of the participants will be guaranteed and 50% of them will be composed of economically disadvantaged young people. In order to achieve these goals below activities are planned; o Presentations about EU youth programs and youth pass, o Conducting group research on the internet for the revival of lost professions and traditional handicrafts, o Visits to local institutions, conducting researches and investigations in these institutions, o Organizing visits to the representatives of these professions and arts, listening to their life stories, conducting chats and interviews, o Organizing visits to the workshops where these professions and arts are performed, monitoring the processes from raw material procurement to the end product, o Opening international photograph exhibition on traditional handicrafts and lost professions products, preparing, presenting and discussing group research reports. Thus, the participants' relevance, knowledge and awareness about the tangible and intangible cultural heritage and their motivation to contribute voluntarily to the preservation of cultural heritage will increase. They will be able to make connections between the past and the future, and they will have the motivation to plan their future more effectively and successfully. In this project, participatory activities are planned which allow them to spend their time with their peers from different cultures, to increase the capacity for mutual dialogue and understanding, enable communication in their mother tongue and different languages, and learn different cultures from the lifestyle of other partner country participants. Thus; the participants will learn by increasing their morale and motivation, their empathy skills and awareness of different cultures will develop and contribute to eliminating their cultural prejudices. In the long term, the awareness of the stakeholders and the local population will increase and therefore cultural heritage will increase, further the volunteering activities in the protection of cultural heritage will be increased.
