Objectives

Our project named "The Unifying Spirit of Music" aims to make folk music live together with 37 young people between the ages of 18-30 from 5 countries, namely Turkey, Serbia, Romania, Spain and Lithuania. Folk music contains the identity elements and values of every nation and society. Folk music, which has been transferred from the past to the present, causes it to be forgotten with the increase in popular culture in today's technology age. The outdated perception of the youth towards folk music caused the loss of interest in folk music.. Folk music is an important point in getting to know the culture of the people. It is one of our aims to protect folk music by saying, 'We consider that the deterioration or disappearance of any part of the Cultural and Natural heritage constitutes a harmful impoverishment for the heritage of all the nations of the world'. Taking into account EU values and Erasmus+ goals, the participants learned about each other's cultures and eliminated common misconceptions about another culture. By emphasizing the importance of multilingualism with our participants from different countries, they increased the awareness of Europeanization and EU citizenship and approached different cultures with tolerance. Participants were together throughout the project. In this process, they learned each other's cultures, languages, music, playing techniques and history by exchanging information with peer learning, which is an efficient learning technique. After all the participants presented their own folk music, they learned about the playing techniques of all cultures. In our improvisation activities, the participants were involved in the music they were familiar with with the improvisation technique. In this way, all the participants played their instruments and kept the rhythm in harmony with each other. Thanks to this group work, they learned to be together and live together. In order to improve their presentation skills, they shared the music they created through teamwork with the local people, accompanied by expert facilitators. Participants became self-confident in this project, discovered their talents and realized their potential. With this project, the participants got a better understanding of EU citizenship, adopted EU values and strengthened their feelings about EU citizenship. By emphasizing the importance of multilingualism with our participants from different countries, they increased the awareness of Europeanization and EU citizenship and approached different cultures with tolerance. The participants contributed to the field of lifelong learning with the non-formal education method, including the development of their skills and qualifications within the Erasmus+ objectives, and strengthened their participation in the labor market. 5 different countries came together in the project. For this reason, participants with different cultures, traditions, beliefs and lifestyles learned to live together within the framework of respect and love, and they approached other nations with tolerance. At the final night concert in Finike Center, the participants performed the concert they presented to the local people with the gains they gained during the project activities.
