Objectives

Climate change is one of the biggest and common problems faced by all countries in the modern world. This problem arises as a result of effects such as the use of fossil fuels, industrialization, rapid population growth, energy production, deforestation, use of technology and the associated increase in energy consumption. In other words, climate change is defined by global warming caused by greenhouse gases, the amount and density of which increase in the atmosphere. According to the scenarios put forward by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (1PCC), it is known that there will be an average increase of 1 to 3.5 degrees in global temperature until 2100. This means that under the most optimistic conditions, there will be a temperature increase of about 0.1 degrees Celsius per decade. (IPCC, 2001) In this case, there will be a change that will create natural disasters caused by changes in temperature and precipitation regimes and rising sea level. Depending on the increases in global temperatures, it is expected that significant changes will occur in the world-scale hydrological cycle, such as melting of land and sea ice, sea level rise, displacement of climate zones and increase in epidemic diseases, which will directly affect ecological systems and human life (IPCC, 1996b; Türkeş ve Arakadaşları; 1999a). In the 3rd estimation report of the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), it is stated that there are no countries and regions that will not be affected by climate change. As emphasized in the Europe 2020 Strategy: European Strategy for Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive Growth Special Information Note published by the Social, Regional and Innovative Policies Presidency of the General Secretariat of the European Union, "Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20% compared to 1990, if conditions are favourable. Reducing it by 30%, increasing the share of renewable energy in the EU's energy consumption to 20% and achieving 20% energy efficiency are among the priority targets. The first of the most important factors that disrupt the natural mechanism of climate is human behavior. For this reason, our project focused on the human impact on non-seasonal and abnormal climate changes. This negative transformation on the climate mechanism is a continuous act of destruction. This process; Reducing and long-term elimination of human-based impacts on human health cannot be achieved by short-term measures, but by long-term changes on lifestyles in social areas. From this point of view, young people, the most active group in the social field, played an important role in our project. The permanent sensitivity of the youth on this issue will first raise awareness in the society and then minimize the human-induced impact. Our solution proposal to the problem of climate change with our project: Climate change, which makes itself felt in different degrees in every country; It is to identify with the young people from those countries, to find solutions on this issue, to create public opinion and to convey the solution proposals to the policy makers in their localities and to ensure the development of joint decision-making mechanisms in the EU dimension on climate change. Our target group in our project is young people between the ages of 18-30. With our project, we aimed to train young activists by taking examples from environmentalist local heroes. In addition, we published a joint declaration/statement with our project and the young people met with policy makers; this, in turn, promoted young people's active citizenship of the European Union. With this project, it is aimed to reduce human impacts on climate change due to people's wrong living and to improve the responsibilities, decision-making mechanisms and raise awareness with young people, which will ensure the sustainability of the European Union, to prevent climate change, and to ensure the development of dialogue between young people from different cultures by using local heroes. Environmentalist heroes were used to embody and internalize what was learned in young people. At this stage, it is aimed in our project to provide more effective and permanent behavioral changes in young people by using environmentalist, local or national heroes who have lived or lived in the participating countries. In addition, with the decisions taken, it is aimed in our project to develop the capacities of participatory, entrepreneurial and critical thinking young people by using the knowledge, experience and achievements of the young people in their regions. Thus; The activities and objectives of our project have been planned and prepared according to the titles of youth decision making, participation, intercultural dialogue, transparency, equality, social inclusion and solidarity, democratic, active citizenship, which are among the special objectives of the Erasmus+ 2019 Program.
