People with disabilities represent more than 15% of the EU population today. Unfortunately we realized that often children with disabilities are just passive consumers of digital products, this leads them to undergo the process of communication, we want to inform them of the negative effects that the media can have, in fact, we believe that using these powerful tools, students can consciously mitigate these phenomena, to use the net in a pro-positive way. In addition, Article 26 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights recognizes the right of disabled people to "benefit from measures designed to ensure their independence, social and occupational integration and participation in community life. The idea of our exchange was born and inspired deeply by this article. We believe that through this project we can enlarge its overview and understand where Europe is going and it's focused on people with special needs. "A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words!" project is an international youth exchange project organized by Techno Youth Team(Informal Youth Group). It will take place in Salihli/Manisa district situated on the Aegean side of Turkey. The exchange will take place from 23/03/2020 to 30/03/2020 and it will involve six partners from Turkey, Italy, Hungary, Greece, Lithuania and Croatia. Each group of young people will be formed by 4 participants aged 18-25, 50% with either sensorial, physical or light mental disabilities and 50% without disabilities; each group of young people will be supported by 2 young leaders/tutors. We focused on communication with young people with disabilities. Young people want to make their voices heard and express their emotions, especially young people with disabilities and special needs need it more. Unfortunately, these young people are not satisfied with their lives because of their disabilities or because of the indifference of society. We want to give these young people the opportunity to meet with the camera as a powerful tool for the improvement and development of this situation, and to give them the opportunity to learn about this tool. They will have the opportunity to express their feelings with images or videos by the way. In all activities that will take place with the camera, 2 group leaders will guide them at any time. In the preliminary preparation visit (APV), special needs types, disability levels will be discussed and the" Include / Transform / Realize" Strategy will be implemented. In line with this strategy, all energizers and icebreakers, workshops, presentations and excursions will be arranged, transformed and realized in the direction that they may be included. For example, the extra time and care will be given to the group leaders who know sign language for our hearing impaired individuals, to vocalize the activities / current environment for the visually impaired participants. The themes of the exchange are Media & Communication/Youth and Disability. The first aim of the project is to develop the talents and competencies of young people with special needs and to make them more free and independent. At the same time, we aim to create good examples by changing the basic information about photography and video production. The second aim of this project is; to improve the reasoning, problem-solving and decision making skills of young people using media. Our objectives are: -Increase the quality of life of disabled people. -Share basic knowledge about the photo and video shooting. -Learn how to express ourselves through media and social skills. -Acquire IT skill in order to increase the employability of participants. -Inform participants about further local and European opportunities. -Develop life-skills using media and personal, intercultural interaction. -Use the media for intercultural learning and understand cultural differences. -Use non-formal educational methodologies for young people who cannot benefit from the formal learning approach.
