Objectives

The six countries when writing the project were keen to develop youth skills that would eventually produce leaders of the future. The leadership skills are seen as a necessity when people are working in a job/career or developing their own for-profit enterprises or non-profit NGOs that benefit society at large. The idea to develop such leadership skills was to equip youth from various cultures & countries, to break the fear inside, to move on and cross all the borders that may stand in their ways. The trainers as coaches and mentors were keen to help the youth from six very diverse countries to discover their strengths, to let them experience being "offline" (to create the environment for the participants far away from their own working place, where they are not disturbed by endless interference of social media), and learning to realise all their aims. Through an intensive, innovative and challenging youth exchange the 6 partner countries were keen to get the participants develop a deeper understanding of their leadership styles, their ambitions and motivations, and the next steps they may need to consider in their personal and career development. The youth exchange was intended to create an environment where the youth would explore their dream jobs, create work opportunities for others (by developing leadership skills that would allow them to start their own enterprises and/or NGOs), develop new ideas and ambitions, a new level of self-awareness, and of course develop new friends while learning new skills. The specific objectives were: To learn about intercultural cooperation To learn about new technologies and innovations To learn about best practices of successful leaders To gain communication and presentation skills To become leaders in their own communities and act as active citizens To solve social issues through startups To develop startup projects with other participants and consider going across borders to seek and provide solutions to societal issues To develop creatively and motivate themselves and peers with new ideas and innovations All this was intended to be achieved in a safe environment where learning took place in a sustainable and fun atmosphere while all along building skills that the youth could use when they returned to their home countries. Judging from the participants' comments and also partner organisations, it seems these objectives were achieved by the Startup partners and the consortium from the UK, AM, LI, MK. NL and RO.
