Project idea was developed and written by joint collaboration of Inovatyvi Karta and Subtiluship CIC organisations due to commonly identified issues. Our vision was to empower participants to become ambassadors of freedom, boosting their tolerance level up towards one another, which is mostly considered as “not normal” in specific community/society. Additionally, to be critical thinkers, this is crucial in the present days to minimize the abuse of information. We sought to make participants confident and be able to question on traditional attitudes, for instance, homophobic attitudes, discrimination, ignorance and to learn how these attitudes are affecting the people and the society negatively. We believed that well adapted non-formal education methods and deep work during the implementation of the main activities will plant a seed for a continuous change in participants, their friends, families, societies, cities and one day - all the world. We wanted to plant a small seed, which will grow to the big world tree - full of fruits of compassion, empathy, knowledge, humility. We believed that starting point is from “myself” – hence, we invited participants to take personal responsibility and start making a change and commit to be full part of the project. ‘I am responsible’ the name of the project helped to remember and spread our key values and message. It also showed that we emphasized personal responsibility. Issues that we wanted to tackle through this project were common among all partner countries: lack of tolerance to each other, steep raise in stereotypes (related to religion, gender, sexuality, etc.), lack of responsibility for own actions, judgmental attitude, lack of human connection and alienation, low degree of critical thinking for the information coming from internet or society. Young people are especially sensitive toward these issues and tend to join different radical groups, have suicidal thoughts and exclude themselves from society. The aim of this project was to bring people closer together from different cultures and religions through each individual’s critical thinking (emphasis on information coming from internet) and outdoor education. The following objectives were our targets in order to reach the aim. Specific objectives: 1. Enhance the attitude of young people towards positive change and solidarity with minorities and people from different backgrounds; 2. Encourage discussions about cultures, values, norms, taboos, language and local issues related to social stigma/prejudices; 3. Enhance media literacy putting emphasis on information spread on social media and internet in general regarding migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and socially excluded groups in general; 4. Learn how to take personal responsibility and have the courage to become an active citizen through coaching methods; 5. Support participants to be active in their local communities towards causes and social issues; 6. Increase critical thinking through methods related to experiential cooking and science, coaching and outdoor education. General objectives: 7. Promote non-formal learning and cooperation with all partners of this project; 8. Improve foreign language skills and other 8 key competences; 9. Spread the knowledge about Erasmus+ programme in countries of partners of this project; This project was directly related to Erasmus+ general objectives: - To promote fundamental European values (respect for human dignity and human rights, freedom, equality, etc.); - Education and training 2020 as specific attention will be given to promote social cohesion, active citizenship and creativity; - Europe 2020 targets which talks about Fighting poverty and social exclusion. The specific objectives of youth field that are related to this project: - Improve the level of key competences and skills of young people, including those with fewer opportunities, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity.
