The 2020 eljub E-Book Week continued a European project – held annually since 2013 - and added since 2018 a further element which concerns the integration of refugees. eljub E-Book Week 2020 offered young people from Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Czexch Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania und Slowakia the opportunity to appreciate and learn more about Europe’s shared heritage by focusing on writing and media. The Youth Echange was successfully held in compliance with strict Corona rules and in a mixture of actual meetings and online conferences and so the European feeling of togetherness was especially strengthened among the youth. The focal point was intercultural interaction and the experience of European heritage. At the same time, eljub E-Book Week 2020 promoted greater awareness of the potential for communication through digiial media and helped young people to become proactive in their own environment: they gain positive experience throughout the eljub EBook Week about the reality of integration, as well as learning to treat media both playfully and with a critical and alert approach. The young adults were supervised by experts from the Literaturhaus Europa to adopt a critical approach to our new digital world of knowledge, readership and communication; moreover, they have been encouraged to set up sustainable networking structures. They were offered creative learning options concerning the current journalistic, intellectual and political situation in Europe. The special focus was clearly on the dimension of integration and shared heritage. Respectful and appreciative behaviour was also a practical aspect here as well as learning more about Europe’s social basic values (freedom, democracy, respect for human rights, the rule of law and tolerance). Since a number of young people could not come to Krems an der Donau due to the Corona-related travel regulations, an extensive online program was offered parallel to the adventure week. This enabled the young people from Albania, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia to take part in the writing and film workshops, to communicate with one another and to contribute with their contributions to the e-book and the film.
