Objectives

’Skill UP!’ project was based on our experience working with different groups of youth and professionals. The project idea was based on 55 deep interviews made in 2019 with youth workers in our network. The project and the main activity was tailored to serve the learning needs of these youth workers and to provide space and time for developing key competences. There was an identified need for practical and innovative methodology used in non-formal education in our network, which stimulates participants for community building, for creating organisations, societies that work from cooperation and network thinking. In 2019 the definition of the 8 key competences has been revised and so had their implementation in the YouthPass. The framework described main competence areas that all individual needs for personal and professional fulfilment, for social inclusion and active citizenship and to lead a sustainable and healthy lifestyle. We decided to focus in a practical way on the 8 key competences, as we found it crucial for youth workers to be able to design learning activities for other young people to promote it. The intention was to equip the participants with a toolkit that is useful in developing every key competence. This had an impact on employment opportunities of the people involved either directly in the training or indirectly, or by being involved in the follow up work of the participants. In particular, our aim was developed from an analysis of the third problematic, that is the lack of confidence on own ideas, towards the achievement of self-awareness and self-development of youth workers and personal objectives. Our project objectives therefore were: - To provide practical tools and methods for quality planning, implementation and evaluation of international projects that make a positive impact - To gather professionals of the youth field from different social and cultural background in order to design more non-formal learning programmes focusing on the 8 key competences - To provide participants with practical, concrete tools and techniques what they can apply in their organisations and most importantly in their work with disadvantaged youth - To support participants in realising their project ideas - To promote innovation in youth work through entrepreneurial and network thinking - To develop personal skills and mindset such as creativity, flexibility, ability to take risks and self-promotion
