Objectives

Time to act – is 11 days youth exchange aimed to bring together 40 young people (4+1 team leader) from 8 different countries those suffering from environmental issues to explore environmental issues, exchange their ideas, share significant experiences, present successful practices, engage in problem-solving, and take action to improve the environment through art. The special countries chosen for the collaboration in environmental awareness were Portugal, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkiye, Egypt, Belgium, Latvia, Romania. Although these countries have taken many measures to solve this problem, they still suffer from the impacts of climate change, global warming, including the severe forms of air, land and water pollution. Therefore, there is a strong need to decrease these effects by the help of different tools such as education, communication, collaboration and discursive power. Activities during the project were planned to understand the environmental problems in every participant country, its impact on the country and human and animal health and empowering young people in these countries to actively participate in the resolution of this problem. Time to Act focused on the art and non-formal education in raising environmental awareness. The non-formal education part allowed participants to gain the knowledge, values, attitudes, commitment, and skills needed to protect and improve the environment within the different workshops on global warming, climate change and EU environmental policy. This part encouraged the participants to work together towards a more sustainable future through raising awareness and using art about how the natural environment functions, and how humans can manage their behavior to be more environment-friendly. Art part enabled participants to develop confidence and communication skills through theatre, art and dance for conveying the message of protecting the Earth to the audience. Furthermore, participants got practical information on the implementation of the Erasmus + projects and be able to realize follow up activities. This project prepared participants to be an active citizen which led to having an impact and change of everyday habits and activities. The project encouraged participants to keep in touch and seek for opportunities for future cooperation and building new project ideas and outcomes and strengthening the connection among their countries on environmental issues. The project provided tools for each project participant to support the solution of environmental problems in their future private and professional lives. Moreover, the project promoted inclusion, cultural diversity and tolerance among the participants. Working in teams allowed participants to improve their co-operation and team-working skills, as well as creating a competitive environment through competitions in different topics of environment. The youth exchange involved different games, case studies, forum theatre, simulation actions, think outside of box exercises and other activities. "COMMON SENSE" Youth Organization (CSYO) as an experienced and professional NGO in this field worked on Time to Act youth exchange with the partners those are experienced in raising environmental awareness and the significance of environmental protection among the youth.
