The Bulgarian Memory Foundation, Bulgaria (BGMF) together with Sdruzenie za makedonskobalgarsko prijatelstvo, North Macedonia (SMBP) and the Municipality of the Bulgarians in ATU Gagauzia, R.Moldova (OBATOG) initiate a project entitled "More tolerance and social inclusion through entrepreneurship competences and skills of the future", based on: 1) The Erasmus+ priorities for 2019 focusing on the inclusion of marginalized young people, the promotion of diversity, intercultural and interreligious dialogue, the shared values of freedom, tolerance and respect for human rights; 2) Joint Report (Council of the EU, EC 2015) "Education and Training 2020" according to which "Inclusive education, equality, justice, non-discrimination and the promotion of civic competences" are identified as "new priorities for European cooperation in education and training" until 2020; 3) 2/8 areas of action of the EU Youth Strategy (renewed) - "Social inclusion" and "Youth and the world"; 4) One of the main objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy - raising the employment levels in Europe; 5) The Paris Declaration on promoting citizenship and the common values of freedom, tolerance and non-discrimination through education (EU-2015), 6) The strategic framework for European cooperation in education and training ET2020, in relation to the objective "Promoting creativity and innovation, including entrepreneurship". The project idea was identified during the XXIV Spring Seminar "Innovations, Progress and the Digital World" of BGMF, within the Working Group "Social Inclusion and Progress" by a group of young people (aged 15-24) from the 3 partner organizations, some of whom in the “disadvantaged” category due to economic, social and geographic reasons and further revised at an on-line meeting in September, 2019. The young people identified issues common to the 3 countries, namely: 1) Risk of (self)isolation especially at moments when the young people are not involved in any form of employment, education or training (so-called NEETs); 2) Increasing levels of intolerance and discrimination in society, magnifying the risk of social exclusion; 3) Need for the so-called “Skills of the future” - for easier adaptation to the labor market and full-right citizen participation; 4) Need for strengthening the importance of the main democratic principles of the EU such as tolerance and respect for others. In the context of the above, the project’s main objective is through applying the methods of non-formal and problem based learning to develop among 60 young people, aged 15-24 (more than 1/3 in disadvantaged situation and with different ethno-religious background) from the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Moldova the transversal skill “Entrepreneurship”; key skills of the future; intercultural, social and civic competences so that to enhance their imitativeness, social inclusion and abilities for civic participation. A 5-day youth exchange is planned in Sofia (Bulgaria). The project is in line with the objectives and activities of KA1, Erasmus + “Learning mobility of individuals” and will increase their opportunities for participation in society. In assessing the needs of the target group, young people summarized the needs for development of: 1) Entrepreneurial competences; 2) Social and civic competences, incl. skills for (intercultural) communication and work with people; 3) Promoting and improving skills for understanding the essence of tolerance, and sharing of EU values. In response to the needs identified, following their participation in the project, through the non-formal education and problem-based learning methods, young people will: 1) Be able to better identify entrepreneurial ideas and opportunities for (professional) realization; 2) Develop their critical thinking skills, creativity, advanced and “out-of-the-box” thinking skills; 3) Improve their ability to plan and manage, as well as contribute to their overall economic literacy; 4) Improve their communication and “working with other people” skills; 5) Develop a set of knowledge and skills that will prevent them from falling into the "NEETs" category or in the spiral of social exclusion; 6) Improve their awareness of the values of the EU, developing their ability to be tolerant. Five of the skills and competences to be developed fall within the scope of the "10 most important skills after 2020" identified in the World Economic Forum Report "The Future of Jobs" (2016). Thus, the project binds the development of the transversal skill "entrepreneurship" with the skills of the future in view of achieving social inclusion, as well as tolerance-based & EU-values based communication.
