EU Citizenship, EU awareness and DemocracyInclusion - equityNew innovative curricula/educational methods/development of training courses

Objectives

In December 2012 the new Compass manual for Human Rights Education was released by the Council of Europe and we based the course on that, as well as on the strategies proposed by the European Charter for Education on Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education to propose an updated and reviewed view on HRE for young people. The training course looked at what we can do through our organizations for human right education and how we can work with young people in our wider communities to reduce violence, discrimination, racism, xenophobia and gender-based forms of non-respect. We discussed the basis, history and principles of Human Rights, but we encouraged participants to struggle for Human Rights in their community and be active in the field, conducting life in an HR perspective, becoming agents of positive changes starting from their behaviours. This course prepared and empowered young people to plan and run youth activities on Human Rights Education especially at the local level and at the European level in the frame of the Erasmus +. The methodology used was one of non-formal education, based on the Compass manuals, completed by theoretical inputs about the history and legal frameworks of Human Rights in Europe. The TC aims to develop HRЕ facilitation and multiplying skills for 26 active youth workers via our objectives which are measurable, realistic, clear, achievable and address a relevant issue. Needs : - to train youth leaders, workers and trainers in acquiring knowledge about Human Rights skills for Human Rights promotion, and developing attitudes in a Human Rights perspective - to support young trainers, leader and workers to get practical working experience in Human Rights Education for youth - to familiarize the participants with the approaches of the Compass manual on its 2012 revised version, as well as other relevant manuals and publications in the field - to share examples, issues and best practices for Human Rights education for youth in different contexts in Europe - to explore new challenges and trends in Human Rights education for youth - to reinforce the network of youth workers and trainers on Human Rights education for youth - to foster the spreading of the Erasmus + Programme as a tool for promotion of Human Rights for youth Outcomes: 1. Develop skills of understanding of the importance of knowing and respecting HRЕ for young citizens in partner's organisation About the impact, it was achieved on multiple levels: - Participants: New knowledge, skills and competences necessary in implementing HR Activities; - Partner organisations: Increased capacity to organise projects within the Erasmus+ Programme - YIYD: knowledge about human rights realities in EU countries and cultures European countries; - Local young people: Greater visibility of YIYD and the Erasmus+ Programme. The main idea of the project is to get together 26 youth workers and to pilot a training program for multipliers in the HRE, focusing on peacebuilding and social cohesion processes, gender equality, intercultural tolerance, combating discrimination and fighting against the stereotype of confrontation, extremism and hate speech. Proposed training's main goal is to offer an opportunity to reflect on existing professional competences and experiment new techniques focused on the emotional, cognitive and physical dimensions of the learning process, which could enforce the human rights education's practices. This training moves from a holistic framework in order to offer to its 26 participants involved in human rights promotion, education and youth work the opportunity to develop from a critical discerning of their own professional approach an understanding of the latest methods and experiences in tackling social issues which could be used in HRE. The training will combine activities belonging to the non-formal education frame and the "experience - feel- reflect" learning approach (COMPASS) with non-formal based techniques.
