Our project "ERYE" was planned and implemented as a training course, which despite the difficulties caused by COVID-19 pandemic was held in the village of Varbovo, Chuprene municipality - part of the least developed socio-economic region in Bulgaria and the EU. The project was planned to involve 23 youth workers from 10 countries (7 program countries and 3 countries - partners in the Erasmus + programme), but due to extraordinary force majeure circumstances three of our participants were not admitted to Bulgaria and did not participate directly in the envisaged project mobility. The missing three of our participants were successfully replaced by Bulgarian youth workers. Through the implementation of this project the team of the Bulgarian Youth Forum (BYF) aimed through interactive methods of non-formal education to contribute to improving the entrepreneurial environment and stimulating innovative business-oriented thinking and mobilizing the intellectual potential of young people in rural areas. As part of the project, we sought to reach all young youth workers working with people from rural and isolated areas who are struggling with challenges such as social exclusion, poverty and unemployment. Through the project we sought to respond to a number of identified and previously conducted through a detailed SWOT analysis of the needs and challenges of socially excluded young people in rural areas. The main focus of the project were needs such as: 1) The lack of a common programme and quality methods of work for youth workers in relation to socially excluded and isolated young people; 2) Lack of visibility and wide publicity of the best strategies and practices used to address the problem; 3) Lack of effective methods for building joint partnerships between youth organizations, especially those working with the target group. 4) Lack of entrepreneurial approach to use the resources in peripheral regions. In order to respond qualitatively to the needs formulated in this way, the following project tasks were defined: • to analyze the problems of people living in rural areas and to highlight the potential for sustainability development; • to improve the quality of work of youth workers by providing methods, techniques for motivation and tools that will allow them to work effectively with target groups; • providing information on the Erasmus + programme and highlighting the possibilities for creating new ones projects and initiatives; • encouraging NGOs to share experience and good practices in setting up an inter-organizational network. By fulfilling all the set tasks, the main project goal was achieved, namely to stimulate the active civic participation of youth workers and to provide effective tools to promote the inclusion of young people living in isolated regions of Europe. In response to the objectives and tasks set in the course of the project, activities were carried out directly corresponding to the policies and EU programmes aimed at ensuring equal opportunities for people living in rural areas. Through the planned and fully implemented project activities we managed to visibly improve the skills of youth workers in the direction of developing a sense of solidarity and tolerance for young people living, studying and working in rural areas. The successful work of young workers from different countries in the course of the project strengthened and encouraged intercultural dialogue on the topic of this project and in particular focused our project efforts on issues affecting people living in rural areas.
